I’m posting these for a friend. I looked them up for him but a lot of different prices. What do you guys think as far as what they may be worth?
Oh no. He took them to Nashville and the coin dealer told him $850. I'll tell him to have them checked at another place. I told him they may be worth more than that I would check, I feel bad.
Thanks for the links too guys, I'm starting to get into coins and I have no idea how to tell fakes from real coins.
They would be worth considerably more than $850 if they were real. I hope no one spent a lot of money on them.
Take them back to the guy in Nashville, QUICK before he learns anything! No, the others are correct they are all fakes, worth a couple bucks for the whole group. If the guy in Nashville is foolish enough to pay $850 for them your any decision then is whether or not you can live with yourself if you sell them to him. Oh and since you now know they a fakes, selling them as real is illegal.
You're in the right place for that. I hope your friend doesn't have too much invested in them. Good you came here and showed them.
Thank you I know I have a lot of questions. He said he thought it was weird that one guy had two 1799 anyway so much appreciated
Ha I couldn't do it and pretty sure he wouldn't but he may have some words for the guy who sold them to him.
Saw one of these dated 1796 in a pawn shop yesterday....the magnet lifted it right up. Lousy job on the obv. die! It was not for sale.
Tell your friend to wear a disguise and use phony ID if he sells to the Nashville guy, then get out of town quickly
