@ddddd just a quickie note re the PCI Signature Series Slab featuring Rick Tomaska... I bought cert# ....7022 yesterday at Grapevine Coin Show for $25 with a circular toned '51 Washie. Funny - the cert says PR65 / 95% White - so we know it toned in the slab. The dealer had another, not as nice... $25...

@Burton Strauss III if it’s the same person I think it is, he used to have 3: 1951, 1952, and 1953. Last year I bought the 1953 for $50 as it was the nicest of all. That one also had 95% white on it and I agree that it was the holder/label that helped the toning (as is common with many PCI coins).

And thanks for joining our thread! I was hoping more of the holder folks would be participating here. :)

Do two holders (photo certs) = double the premium?
Here we have an Iowa Commemorative Half with Anacs and NCI photo certs
    MS 65 value is $80-$110
Hint: it did not sell for the owner's stated value of $1,150!

$110. I would hesitate to pay a big premium on a coin removed from its holder.

They did not come in an actual holder back then. Which is why a photo of the coin accompanies it, to prevent someone from pairing the certificate with another lesser coin. ;)

NCI actually offered a combination slabbing / photocert option - which is why if you look at the back of the holder it says "Authenticity Guarantee not valid without photo certificate" (example here: http://coinauctionshelp.com/NCI.html)
