Hi there, I came across this red 1968 S penny and I did some research about the different errors. Some sites are saying this is common while others are making a big deal about it. Any insight would be helpful! Thank you
I'm in the camp of common. Common mechanical doubling on the date and worn die the motto that brings the letters closer to the rim. If you look at a lot of 68's this is pretty common. 1c, spend it.
Learn this first: There are ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS going to be dishonest websites who will be making a big deal about ANY STUPID THING. Stop being dependent on websites. Even more, COMPLETELY ignore ANYTHING you see on YouTube.
I only see damage cause after the coin left the mint. I don't see anything that would be a mint error.
Thanks everyone for the advice! I really appreciate the feedback! I'm still trying to build my knowledge when it comes to coins and you guys definitely helped me out.
