Hi every one, I'm NEW in collecting coin's, so I found this 1988 D Lincoln Cent and at closer examination I found that the (D) on this penny has been struck through as an error.

Your photo is too small for me to see much detail but it appears to be post-mint damage (PMD).

PMD or it could be the plating splitting at the MM, which I see a lot and is another form of PMD

I thought the D might have been struck by something ? I only went to 400x and lost it, but my thought is PMD also. What does the reverse look like ?

Hi I have this 1988 D penny. Looks like the D is a little larger than a regular penny but it is also silver or steel. What should I look for

I have a coin just like this too
Looks like the D is over something, and the field is potmarked somewhat in front of Abe's face.

Actually, I'll save all my coins that aren't worthy and put them in my garden. Zinc, copper, nickle., Great for tomatoes!!!

This is a nine year old post. If you want responses you need to start a new post under "what's it worth."

I'll answer. It's worth one cent. There is no extra mintmark. That's a stain.
