Fair point, but now try to imagine if we could somehow poll those who've left the hobby in utter disgust due to the misinformation and/or exceedingly poor advice received there. I'd be willing to wager that the latter has done significantly more damage to this hobby than the former has contributed.

Yeah, right... like half of these folks would cough up even a cent for what we generously provide them. After all, it is our responsibility to answer every imaginable question within 13 seconds after it's posted, as well as to tell them exactly what they want to hear. Didn't you know?

If I could figure out how, I'd love to use that very font when responding to such questions. Perhaps it would appeal to their subliminal.

 

Someone gave you this responsibility? I thought everyone here comments on a volunteer basis. If you're employed by CT and you have to answer every post within 13 seconds, I feel sorry for you....my bad.

My advice to you is not to let ANYONE's expectations drive your experience here at CT or anywhere else for that matter, unless you're getting paid for it. You're doing them a service, you don't owe them anything. These "expectations" must've been before I joined as most new members who has posted asking questions have been very polite and even almost apologetic when asking a question and they do say thank you. I haven't seen any that demanded an answer right away.

 

When I start a thread, which I did this one, don't EVER criticize anyone for hijacking it. "Ain't no such thing" in my book. All stream of consciousness is topical and welcomed, as long as it has a link somewhere upthread. My thread, my rules. I don't give a rodent's rump what the "usual" discussion board protocols are.

 

Yes, this is true, to a fault.The 'passive aggressive' millennial way of almost, but not quite, asking a question drives me straight up a wall. Step up and speak plain! Drop the "upspeak" at the end of your sentences, too. Fingernails on a blackboard. Have the decency to end your declarative sentences on a downward pitch, as everyone did before the wussing of our society. When I hear so-called "professional commentators" on NPR engage in "upspeak", I want to back over my FM radio with my non-hybrid American car and bill THEM at fundraising time.

Want to learn how to speak in regards to pitch modulation? Not AT ALL referring to his CONTENT, just his language skills here - study tapes of Rush Limbaugh.

 

Look closer. "Books" is making a fair point. I have seen more than few cases where if a really boneheaded query isn't answered immediately, they repost thread after thread. It's a mess.
