may i know what kind of error coin is this?as i dont find this error of the 10 common errors,i think its security edge error, this error is due to the mistake in cutting the security edge to prevent forgery.but the ring is not fully cut remain like 20c coin.this is 1967 malaysia 50c coin.the coin made in uk by british last time.india, singapore, brunei and hongkong coin security edge are all the same during that time becouse all were made in uk by british.hope anyone of you can give me some information.thanks have a nice day
I think you meant clipped planchet. Followed by the inability for the edge to be rolled on due to the clip in the planchet?? Just thinking out loud.
It's still pretty bizarre. It's definately an edging error and this is not quite commonly seen, unlike modern error Malaysian error coins which seems to be intentionally struck by some crooks in the mint.
u again hahahaha.thanks for all the comments you have replied me.btw did u collect malaysia coin too?how did u know so much bout it?
It's a "straight clip". The blank was punched out from the leading edge or the trailing edge of the coin metal strip. I'm not sure why the security edge design fades in and out.
thanks,is this a new type of error discovery?i dont see any other piece with security error like this before.hopefully it is the only one with this uncommon coin in the world.
Things like that are very rarely seen ( the strange security edge) , but it is probable there are a few knocking around. As it is malaysian, it is not going to be worth a fortune...but still very nice.
Odd, it is obviously an incomplete planchet, and assuch I would expect the security edge to be missing on part of the coin. What is odd is that it seems to be missing in the wrong area. I would expect that the security edge is applied before striking and then that the coin is struck in a milled collar. I would have expected the security edge to be mssing roughly 180 degrees opposite the clip. But it looks like it is missing just on either side of that area. Is what I am seeing correct?
OK, I think I've got it. Assumption: The device that applies the security edge is similar to a Castaning machine using two die faces each of which impress half the edge. The planchet enters the machine and starts to receive the security edge normally. When it reaches the point of the incompletearea of the planchet the distance across the diameter is now less than the distance between the die facesand the planchet stops rotating. The security edge stops at the edge of the clip. Since there is nothing to force the coin to stat rotating again it merely slides along to the end. It is then struck in a milled collar providing the grooves on the edge. Final result is a coin on an incomplete planchet with a reeded edge and two short sections of security edge 180 degrres apart from each other, one of which terminates at the edge of the planchet clip. Does that accurately describe what the coin really looks like?
i went to few coin dealers and showed them this unique coin.some of them said that this unique coin is common and had few pieces before but had been sold out long time ago when i asked them to show out to me. should i believe all this coin dealers?r they honest?
