..needed the money though. This was what was left after 8 years of detecting. I sold the better more valuable coins singularly before I sold this entire batch. Got $500 on the bay for em all.
Oh well, I have started all over again. I bought a new detector back in July and since then have found about 23 silver coins and some Indians. Good start.

Sorry to hear that you needed to sell them, but I'm glad you've already had some good luck finding more.

Wow, no wonder they call you the king! Man! Sorry to hear you had to sell them, but you'll probably turn all that up again in a year. :D What's the rarest coin you ever found if you don't mind me asking?

Mainly old home sites, with permission of course. Old parks, old church lots, old school lots. Anywhere where people gathered back in the day. never the beach. Thats where ya find the real valuable stuff, gold rings and what not. Heck with that stuff, give me an old coin.

Where exactly do you look to find the indians, and v-nickels etc.? I am starting to get into Metal Detecting, and so far I've found some pull tabs and rusty metal objects.

Best places to go are old home sites with permssion of course. I look for stone foundation homes and go a knocking. Also do a lot of research of my area for places that people hung out at years ago. Then go swinging. Old parks, Old schools, old churchs. Fairgrounds. Places like that. But there is nothing like an old farmhouse front yard.

    This is key.

I grew up in rural Minnesota and about a year ago I was looking at their local newspaper. In the "Yesteryear" column of the paper, there was an article from the 1920's which detailed how everyone who was anyone went to to certain local lake for swimming. It was apparently quite the social event and would be mentioned in the "society" columns of the day.

Today, the lake is hardly on the map and you have to drive down a tiny gravel road to get to it. It's basically in the middle of corn fields. There is absolutely no trace that this was ever a swimming magnet type of place. The lake is famous for getting overgrown with weeds by July. Fisherman only go there when they have no luck everywhere else.

And no, I'm not saying where it is. I have been making plans for several months now..... :)
