I notice when I want to buy coins I always focus on one type at a time. Right now I'm looking at a few but I don't have a desire enough for any of them to buy one. What are you interested in now, maybe it'll spark my interest too.
Original Confederate Half Dollars, still waiting on that winning powerball ticket to attempt to get one
Holding the #5 spot for lowest mintage in the 1932-1940 era of the Washington quarter series is the 1940D. I am glad to hear others get hung up collecting in this manner also. In the vf-au range the 40D seems to be somewhat elusive and a challenge to locate. Problem is, when I locate 1 I snap it up and continue searching for the next one!! Part of my persistence I think is an old acquaintance of mine that told me the only early date Washington he never found in circulation was the 40D. Of course the price tag for this date is much more affordable than the top 2 or 3 dates. Further, the few (1 or 2) local coin shows i am fortunate enough to attend each year may only yield 1 or 2 pieces. I enjoy the hunt seemingly as much as the purchase!!
Poor fellows......all washed up. Wishing for something that you can't gain' on. Feel more freely and forget the profit..........
I don't have a specific coin. But anything that has amazing eye appeal and fits in my budget gets me excited every time I come across one.
@green18 . You may be right there's always that thought in the back of my mind saying "how much can i make on that down the road if i just had a few more of them".... may be too much business and not enough collecting. I will work on that..
For some reason, I've always wanted a solid 1886 O Morgan for my collection. I find this date fascinating for some reason? I solved this issue today. No, I didn't purchase an MS 65 .
I have 4 Morgans I really like and I'd really have to grab a good one at a great price to be interested. My five favorite coins now are the 4 toned Morgans and a Columbus half. @HAB Peace 28 2.0
For me it’s capped bust dimes. I still keep an eye out for suitable capped bust quarters too. I think I may be sliding down the slippery slope of becoming a John Reich fanboy.
