Looking at this 1987 and was wondering how does this happen? Are they die markers on the rim?

These are copper plated zinc. They rot.

None here in Texas (big surprise). I am sure they are in circulation somewhere.

In 2016 I saw some this early in the year, but not so far this year. I do have fewer cash transactions now.

Went to the bank and asked for some 2018 Penny rolls and the teller said they haven't seen any. Does anyone know if you can buy new full rolls or are they mixed in with previous years?
    Thanks,

Bank gets whatever the cash terminal (Loomis, et al) gives them.

Sort of like gambling - you pay your money and take your chances...

They are out, there is a box of 2018 D's on ebay. Last time I looked the bids were up to $202.

Burton is right though, the banks can NOT request new or specific dates when they order coins. They order and they get whatever the supplier happens to have on hand. And the typical procedure for filling orders is to fill with circulated coins first, then older Unc coins, and finally new Unc coins.
