Maye it's a proof penny? What would it be made of...1973 P at 2.5 grams?

Perhaps if you start your own thread with better, in focus, pictures - especially with the coin in question on a scale with the weight showing, you will get more answers.

Test your scale with other cents.

YES, I WAS WEIGHING A BUNCH OF COINS WHICH IS HOW I CAME ACROSS THIS ONE. SOME ARE 2.5, IE. THOSE AFTER 1982, AND THOSE BEFORE ARE 3.1ISH...ALL EXCEPT THIS ONE WHICH IS WHY IT STUCK OUT TO ME. FORGIVE KEYBOARD ISSUES... NOT WORKING PROPERLY SO IS ALL CAPS.

MY ERROR I GUESS. RE-WEIGHED TONIGHT AND SOMEHOW IT COMES OUT 3.1. I AM NEW TO WEIGHING COINS AND THERE ARE MANY SETTINGS. I WILL RECHECK IT AGAIN TOMORROW, BUT IT SEEMS NOW THAT IT IS AN ERROR. SORRY...IT TOOK A GOOD DEAL OF TIME RESEARCHING IT TODAY. NOT SURE WHY INITIALLY IT SEEMED TO WEIGH 2.5.

Also, your coin looks like a normal cent. The color does not seem to be anything out of the ordinary.

Pretty sure there is some error with the scale because .11 grams of copper is not enough to strike anything resembling a cent.

    Possible .11 oz .11 oz = 3.1 grams
