Wow....Just found this Indian Head nickel, cant make out the date completely... I want to guess, 1918 ....But not sure...I lightened some pics and darken some others trying to see the date...What do you guys think?
The fourth digit is definitely an "8" so that only leaves three options. Given the spacing between the 9 and the 8, I would think a "1" is the only option. I think it's two narrow to be a "2" or "3". So I agree with your pick of 1918.
