Wow, I never win anything. Well, at least until now. How about the Licinius?

You are too generous @Severus Alexander. Thank you so much.

I like the Vima Takto tetradrachm! What's cool is that that one would have been my pick even if I would have had first choice! I've been getting more and more interested in the eastern empires lately. Worked out perfect. :)

What a great gesture @Severus Alexander. There are a handful of posters on here that the board just wouldn't be the same without and you are definitely one of them! You can rest assured that the coin will have an honored place in my collection so long as there is a Curtisimo around to collect :)

I have been on a coin buying freeze since the beginning of the year until my wedding in April (stupid wedding fund) so this will be a much appreciated addition that I will have some time on my hands to study. Plus it should keep my fiancé from strangling me for breaking down and buying a new coin ;)

    You rock SA

Awesome, I'm so glad you're pleased with the result!! And thanks for the kind words, even if they apply far better to you than to me. :)

So... the tiny wedding in Rome idea didn't go over too well? ;)

Haha I pushed the Italian wedding idea as hard as I dared but no go. Instead I ended up with a giant wedding in Nebraska with a honeymoon in Italy for a consolation... not a bad deal I guess

BTW, I did have a SevAlex in my original Roman collection.

Ugly and horn silver, but it cost me less than ten bucks, and didn't seem bad at all for that price.

If I still had it, I would've donated it for this kind giveaway.

Congrats on your anniversary, @Severus Alexander. That was a classy gesture.

Congrats, now there are a couple of people who can no longer say "I never win anything" which makes me happy. :) Just PM me your address and I'll get the coin off to you!

Thanks, @lordmarcovan! My first inclination was to give away a Severus Alexander coin... but I love all of mine far too much to part with any of them! :shame:

Thanks, @Theodosius. It didn't hold a candle to your roach contest, but I sure enjoyed all the posts!

Very cool contest SA. I log onto Cointalk for the first time in a year, and I find a cool contest I just missed! Happy one year anniversary. You picked a great way to commemorate it.

It's good to log back on after quite a hiatus, and see new vibrant members on this site, and a few of the old avatars I recognize from years back. It's very satisfying to me to see that there are still lots of great ancient coin people on here sharing this wonderful hobby.

Oh...and had I logged in two days ago, this would have been my entry...;)

    Severus Alexander; AD 232
    AE Sestertius, 29mm/20.4g
OBV: IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG , Laureate bust right with draped far shoulder
REV: PROVIDENTIA AVG , Providentia standing front holding two grain ears over modius and cornucopiae. (RIC 642, Cohen 503).

So that's a wrap. Thanks to all the participants, and congratulations to all the winners!! It was an extremely satisfying way to celebrate my CT anniversary. I have a feeling I will be revisiting this thread often, just to see all those great coins again!
