I had a fun day at the local shop today. This was one of my pick ups. I loved the color and the detail on it. Let's see if you can guess the grade.
No it's not semi PL. It is very lustrous though. I'm curious as to what @Lehigh96 thinks. He seems to be one of the nickel guys around here.
Nice coin Jt. I say that it is at least a 65. I think most of what is seen on the high points is left over from a weaker strike. it might be a 66
Not a lot of high opinions on this one... It's in an old ANACS MS-66 holder. I picked it and a 1957-D in the same grade for $3.00 each. I was hoping for a shot at FS on the 1950, but it looks like most of you don't think it would go that. I know this one comes weakly struck, but for this date and mint it seems to be pretty decent. The reverse has a lot of heavy die polishing which does make it look rougher than it actually is.
The redish orange colored logo on the reverse is the oldest slab, of the soap boxes. It is a little a smaller also.
This one is actually the third iteration of the ANACS slab. The first and oldest was the ANA slab with blue writing on the front stating "Official ANA Grade". The second version came after ANACS was sold to AMOS Press. The font color was changed to green and now read ANACS. The serial number format remained the same, using two letter prefix and four number suffix. The reverse hologram was also changed from the gold lantern to the ANACS triangle. The third version added the bar code and started over with a number only serial number. Here's a gen 1 ANA Here's a gen 2 And then Gen 3 After this they moved to the larger blue label slab.
