Considering the doubling on said variety is most obvious on WE TRUST, perhaps it would behoove you to post a clear photo of said area. As it stands though, I see nothing remarkable in those thus far provided. Welcome to the forum, Elyce.
Thank you BooksB4Coins! I wish I had a better camera, but the following may help. The lighting seems to be blocking the breaks. But you may be able to see on the top of the E in We and maybe the R in Liberty. Let me know I’m sure I just have my hopes up, but you never know. I wish I could take a photo with the 100x magnifier I’m using to look at it.
You're very welcome, but unfortunately, it's not of the variety mentioned earlier (DDO 3). This isn't to say it couldn't be another, but I'm simply unable to see details well enough to say one way or the other. Lots of folks seem to be very disappointed when a coin doesn't turn out to be as hoped for, but the wise will view it as a learning experience, effectively turning a negative into a positive that can benefit them for as long as they're involved in the hobby. Much of success in this hobby simply stems from attitude. Have the right one and you're likely to go much further than those with the wrong. As for photographing coins, the technique is often much more important than the actual camera used. There are many truly excellent coin images that have been taken using phones or very cheap P&S cameras, and are the result of the technique used to create them. In fact, one with no photography experience could go out and spend many, many thousands on the newest high-end equipment and end up with photos significantly worse than the guy using an older inexpensive DSLR. There are many past threads on the forum with coin imaging advice, so if something that interests you, do consider searching them out. There are many different tips and tricks as well. If having trouble, don't be afraid to ask. The finer folks here are generally very happy to help.
Thank you very much for your help, I truly appreciate it and all your knowledge! It started with going through my grandmothers old change, but it honestly gets addicting. May I ask for your input again? This is another coin. What would you make of this? Is this caused by grease?
What exactly are you referring to? I assume it's the "doubled" appearance of LIBERTY? If so it's a plating issue.
Im not sure on that possible DDO but yes def not the first link now that I see. What exactly on the second coin are you seeing as the anomaly?
