Ran across this at a local coin shop and thought it was too cool to pass up. Has anyone seen these before? Trying to get an idea of the age. I am from Iowa though so I may be a bit partial to it!

I have not, that is pretty cool.
I have seen a capital holder in the shape of the United States. I basically got it for free with the purchase of the proof set contained w/in it.

That's pretty neat! Makes me wonder if they have some of the other state centennials.

Looks to be a Capital plastics custom holder....and the toning is nice....

Kind of a cool holder, but the coin looks even nicer.

That could be an early Capital Plastics holder.
The key to "early" is the metal screws.
    Nowadays they are plastic.

You can still get the metal screws at extra cost......;)

    Hey @MMiller750
Interesting holder. Take a close look at the edges. Look for a circle with a W inside. It is hard to see. Also keep an eye out for a line scored across all three layers of the plastic.

I ask because Whitman marked many of their holders with the circle & W and used metal screws. Capital scores an alignment line on the edge and uses plastic screws. The holes for the metal screws are a smaller diameter than the Capital holders. My earliest Capital holder is from the early 1960’s and they have used plastic screws since then.

I will have to look for the W inside if I take it apart. I noticed there are three lines going across the center but I can't make anything out, they are really faded. There is just enough to tell they are there.

Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. The circle and W are hot stamped across the edge, not inside on one of the layers. If there are layer alignment marks on the edge and the screw holes are 1/4” then it was most likely produced by Capital Plastics.
