When the angry mob comes at you they all look the same. My apologies
But some body on CT is a professional photographer that lamb basted me and all the comments I posted should be directed at him not you. I thought you were him so I’m sorry again.

Gloves are not recommended by the courses authorized by the ANA. The risk of slippage and dropping a coin is regarded as more of a risk than more secure edge handling by “nekkid fangers”. Yes, controversial item, but it is what it is.

Everyone gripes about the Effigy Mounds quarter, but here’s my retort: Go there, and do a better design that does the subject justice. Not so easy. It’s actually not a bad representation.

I'm no designer, and I don't even have a great eye for design, but:

02 is a little nicer to look at but no one knows what it’s supposed to be depicting. The other two are just awful

I disagree as sometimes it's not the artist, but the requirements put on the artist by the legislation.

Take for example the 2019 50th anniversary Moon Landing coin. If you ask me, a slam dunk is to have the convex side full of craters regardless of design, but the infinite wisdom of the govt says it has to be the visor of an astronaut's helmet. FAIL!!!

Excellent point and is indeed a prime opportunity wasted.

Wow. I didn't mean to start a war here. Just asking for your ugly coin opinion. May not post anything else. LOL. Of coarse, that may be better for you folks anyway.

Kurt I’ve done plenty of things in my life that I’ve said I could and did I think I’m done. Along with my many talents I’m a master modeler and dabbling artist but I’ll leave coin design to others as a have no passion for it and passion is what it takes or you get mediocrity as the end result. Kind of like we have at the present!

Although I’ve been one of the loudest critics on this thread I’ll be more realistic about my opinions of new coins

I really like 05. Simple and just the right balance of field even though the main design element is wire frame, Genius! The trees look like trees and the man looks like a real man not a comic book man. And no animal crackers! Like I posted in post #199 & #216 it’s all about the artist’s talent not the subject matter.
Oh yeah almost forgot, none of the three are all that noteworthy I just liked the artistic use of a wire frame character and thought it well balanced thus my genius comment. You look at things differently when you paint. Balance, flow and contrast are most important!

Then I read your comment and YOU are 100% correct to have to work under constrictions like that would kill me! I was the guy they said this is what we want it to do now go! So I had very few restrictions for the last 10 years of my career! Poor saps and sappettes.

Come on show some love for the dime. Is it because they replaced the bale of hay(merc) with a torch(Roosie)? They fixed the flame back in '69. Also the acorns have much more detail. I just don't know what there is not to love.

I don’t like the reverse of either. I actually don’t like Mercs either they do nothing for me so making a more boring version of that really does nothing for me.

Agreed. The dime has been slipping in design since the seated liberty. Since the no stars it’s been down hill since then. Don’t get me wrong. I love seated dimes. Bug I like no stars best. Then the stars. Then the legend obverse.
