1922 Lincoln - Scratched off D?

Good evening all!
I guess this is more of a "what is it" than "what's it worth" question.
So I finally went through all my Jefferson's and finished filling, (well almost), my first coin folder! I'm starting on Lincoln's now because I have so many. I waited to do them last. My dad already had several folders started so I'm just going to continue with them. I found this 1922 separated from the rest. Now I am no expert but I'm also no sucker so can anyone confirm this is a 1922 with a scratched of D? Also would it be cheesy to put it in the folder and what would I put it as? As always, thanks I'm trying to do better on my pictures. Ya'll please be patient! I'll try again if they aren't good.

I agree that the mint mark appears to have been (roughly) removed. You could put it your album as a 22-plain but that would be like cheating at solitaire...

 

True! It’s stinks because it may have been a weak d but now we will never know. I want to put it in just because but will probably put it under the D. Thanks for your opinion!

 

The damage in that area suggests removal.
The 1922-D by itself is a semi key date. Now it's almost worthless.
Greed has ruined another nice coin.

Album filler as a decent 1922D might as well use it it’s not any less rare because it’s damaged!

 

Except the value is compromised.
If it was worth $25 before the mint mark removal, now it's less than $10.

 

That’s what I was planning. Thanks for the confirmation! It was still my dads and if I, with my very limited knowledge about coins can figure it out then just about anyone could I’m sure! I’m not going to sell it and I have tons of rolls to go through though so who knows, maybe I’ll find more

 

True but I never really questioned the value, just wanted confirmation it was damaged most likely intentionally. Which I have so thanks to all that helped!

 

Just your luck we have varieties for the "No D" and the "Weak D" but none for the "Removed D."

 

I like the Removed D title for that variety! You should write a book on this. You can break it down into sections; mechanical removal, wear removal, circulation removal, unauthorized removal. @eddiespin you are an innovator!

 

Under unauthorized removal this should be subcatagorized “sloppy”.
