Wow, that is an old one, Min Guo year 3 = 1914. Is that Sun Yat Sen on the obverse? China was a bit fragmented during those times, so I will post another Chinese coin from a different part of the country, if I may. Guang Dong may have been sort of autonomous then, I am not sure.
Lovely Straits Vickie, there. I do love grey silver with that look, as you probably know. Here's another Straits Vickie, from a bit later. (NGC AU58) Now, assuming Straits = Malaysia, we can travel NE to the Philippines.
Got this from a friend of the wife's a few days ago. Her husband found it in a wall when he went to repair some wiring on their house. Yes it is a very old house. There is just enough detail to tell what it is. As for a date...who knows? Philippines to the US 1864-1873 US 2 Cent Piece.
Wow, that's a cool "slick" 2c piece! With a bit of oblique lighting and squinting through a loupe, you might be able to coax a date off of it. Let's head north to Canada, aka "America's Attic". This one was the most modern coin I've had in my Eclectic Box collection. (It's sold now.) I probably should add some more moderns. Presently the "newest" I have in there is from 1929. Canada: gold 100-dollars proof of Elizabeth II, Canadian Unity commemorative, 1978 (Ex-NGC PR67 UCAM- it downgraded a point when it went to PCGS)
Eastern Algeria abuts a bit against the disputed area known to some as the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic
I like that coin. Went to find out more about it, but had a difficult time locating in The Standard Catalog. Found out that it is actually a " 30th Anniversary French - Algerian Clash " commemorative issued in 1975.
I have been very remiss in posting to this thread which I created. This fall has been crazily busy for me and I have rarely been on the computer which stores all my coin pictures. So have not contribute to this thread or to the other picture threads. But I have been following it with interest and I have tracking the posts. Every four or five pages I have counted the coins from the various countries and thought you may be interested in seeing the results from the first 30 pages (600 posts). If I have time I will repeat these updates every 10 pages. So here goes: In 600 posts we had 514 coins posted. Some were duplicates (from the same people, no less, in many cases). 233 different countries were represented! Some of those were the same countries under different names. Believe it or not, USA did not occur until post #528 and France until #531, two countries which may have been expected to occur early. Posts #599 and #600 both represented new countries. There are some surprises: why does Bhutan occur six time but Hungary and Czechoslovakia not at all; why does Turkey, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, only occur once; why did USA not occur once in the first 500 posts? Here are the country-by-country totals based on the number of times they occurred: 12: Philippines 11: Peru 9: Brazil, India 8: Japan 6: Australia, Belgium, Bhutan, China, Cuba, Russia 5: Canada, Chile, Colombia, Great Britain, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Nepal, Portugal, Spain, Tibet, Vietnam 4: Bermuda, Cambodia, Ceylon, Curacao, Ethiopia, France, Guatemala, Haiti, Hong Kong, Iran, Ireland, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Somalia, Taiwan, Thailand, Venezuala 3: Albania, Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Finland, Guyana, Isle of Man, Kenya, Laos, Maldives, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Panama, South Africa, South Vietnam, Straits Settlements, Sweden, Timor, Trinidad & Tobago, United States, Uruguay, Zanzibar 2: Afghanistan, Austria, Bahawalpur, Burma, Cameroon, Comoros, Costa Rica, Danzig, Denmark, Estonia, French Indochina, French Oceania, Gelderland, Germany, Greenland, Guinea, Hawaii, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhatan, Korea, Latvia, Liberia, Lithuania, Lundy, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, New Guinea, Nicaragua, North Borneo, North Korea, Norway, Paraguay, Prince Edward Island, RyuKyu Islands, Sardinia, Sealand, South Korea, St. Pierre & Miquelon, Switzerland, Tanzania, Uganda, Uzbekhistan, Yemen 1: Algeria, Annam, Assam, Azores, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgian Congo, Belize, Bohemia, British Caribbean Territories, British East Africa, British Honduras, British Virgin Islands, British West Africa, Brunei, Bulgaria, Cayman Islands, Central African Republic, Central American Republic, Cochin China, Cocos Keeling Islands, Congo, Cook Islands, Crete, Croatia, Cyprus, Danish West Indies, Democratic Republic of Congo, East Africa, East Africa & Uganda, Eastern Caribbean Territories, Ecuador, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Faeroe Islands, Falkland Islands, French Colonies,French Somalia, French West Africa, Gambia, German East Africa, Ghana, Gibralter, Grenada, Guernsey, Gwalior, Honduras, Inner Mongolia, Israel, Jaora, Jersey, Jordan, Kashmir, Kelantan, Kiau Chau, Kiribati, Kyrgyzstan, Liechtenstein, Macau, Madras Presidency, Malacca, Malagasy Republic, Malawi, Mali, Malta, Manchoukuo, Mauritius, Menorca, Mombasa, Mongolia, Myanmar, Mysore, Netherland East Indies, Netherlands Antilles, Netherlands New Guinea, New Brunswick, Nurnberg, Oman, Pakistan, Prussia, Puerto Rico, Reunion, Rhodesia & Nyasaland, Riga, Romania, Rwanda-Urundi, Sarawak, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Siberia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, Solomon Islands, St Helena, St Thomas & Principe, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Sudan, Sumatra, Surinam, Swaziland, Syria, Tadjikistan, Tannu Tuva, Tonkin, Transvaal, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Ukraine, US Virgin Islands, Van Dieman's Land, Vatican City, Venice, West Germany, Yunnan, Zambia
Are you sure there are only 12 posts for the Philippines? I am sure it's in the hundreds..... Ok, just kidding. Carry on.
That is quite interesting the way you computed the totals and statistics that way. I thought of posting a US coin, so since Portugal was the last one, here goes. US of A.
