Yes actually, A buddy tilled up a small bag of old silver and gold coins in his garden, The worst part was he gave them away to the guy he bought the house from.

That would be awesome. I know it could happen. There’s a lot of unaccounted for rare early coins. I’m sure not all were destroyed and many were lost

I found a nice gold ring with diamonds and sapphires in my garden once.

I have found a few gold and silver rings, they are just waiting to be dug up.

I don’t know what I’d do if I dug up one of those. That would be a remarkable experience.

I believe that a farmer found an 1802 half dime in a field one time also.

That’s one of the coins I thought of being out there along with chain cents 1799 and 1804 large cents 1796 half cents higley coppers 1796 And 1804 quarters and more. Especially the lower denomination coins that are more likely lost

History is just waiting to be found, I wouldn't know what to do if I found a coin like that.

Then you should bury it for someone who does to find later.

That photo is probably as close as I will ever get to one.

I think I would expand my search area beyond the garden!

There probably wouldn't be much to find around here, seeing as the area around here was mainly sugar cane and cotton fields in the ante-bellum south. Different, of course, around Vicksburg and Natchez. There has been a 19th century railroad steam engine sitting out in a cane field not too far from my house. Judging by its condition, it has probably been sitting there for more than 100 years.

I searched my whole property, and this is the typical 'treasure' :vomit:

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I can imagine a lot of things. Expecting it to ever actually happen, however....

I highly encourage you to try to attend a major national show. Even a lot of regional shows have big auctions with cool stuff. If you go to the auction lot viewing, you can look at any coin in the auction. They'll pull it out for you, you can hold it in your hand and examine it with your loupe. Extremely educational - sometimes I'll just spend the entire day looking at coins I'll never be able to afford!
