I can’t keep up with all those countries in Asia and their cultural differences. Maybe I should read a book on it... I have come to hate the Harrisburg Airport. Nothing wrong with the airport itself, but I have gotten sick in the airport not once, but TWICE. I swear it’s the tap water. Now I just fly directly to State College.
Agreed. About twice a year, the pilots for Air Force One come up here and practice touch-and-go's. That and the odd freighter are the only 747 airframes we get. Since the recent removal of Harrisburg from the Frontier network of airports, I almost never get there.
I once missed my connection from Harrisburg to Charlotte because this idiot wouldn’t put his bag in the overhead bin. The staff refused to kick him off, that guy should of had to pay for my 200 dollar hotel bill! Traveling can suck, but it helps if you’re not a total (Insert word that the mods hate here).
The way it works these days it doesn’t matter if the public likes it or not so my Hobo nickel design will be a shoe in like every other coin has for the last 100 years
The latest iterations of the hard-working Jefferson nickel. The nickel that once bought a candy bar or pack of baseball cards now appears to have been re-designed by people with little or no sense of scale, proportion or visual interest.....perhaps out-of-work Russian or East German designers. Fated to become little gray tokens of our spiritual and aesthetic malaise.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, yet it does beg the question of why you cannot simply apply the same to the views of others instead of searching for or suggesting ulterior motives? I've no problem with what you posted in response to the Reagan coin, and in fact I found it somewhat amusing. Hell, the similarities are quite clear and to the point of being rather comical if taken at face value, so why is it so hard to do just that when the rendering of the individual in question just happens to be a woman? We are getting close to entering into another era of severe censorship, paranoia, and persecution of those who dare to disagree with even the most irrational demands of the PC crowd. Keep it up and a modern form of autos-da-fé cannot be that far behind. The need to see a boogeyman behind every corner is literally tearing this country apart and doesn't need to be injected into a hobby that offers an escape from the incessant walking on eggshells already required to navigate everyday life. Just a little food for thought. "Two right eyes" indeed. However, and my apologies for the confusion, but that's not the one I was talking about. I should have made clear that it is the rendering shown in post #74 and is, of course, simply a criticism of the artist. And I would argue that "good manners" isn't simply assuming the worst even if only because for some strange reason, a lot of folks don't take kindly to implication that there must be said ulterior motives behind their perfectly reasonable positions. Surely you're familiar with the old saying about the "best of intentions ending in the worse of results"? Just because my vitriol is expressed openly while yours is simply suggested, does it really make a difference? That which we call a rose...
Anyone else afraid the new Palladium Eagles will ruin the Merc design through overexposure? I've thought about that.
The only more modern coin design I really love is the st gaudens $20. I do like the standing quarter too especially the type 1 but the lack of decent quality control by the mint hurts that series the coins I love have a 17 or 18 starting the date
At least they didn’t let the Guy that did this design it. Flat cartoonish garbage! The artist couldn’t even get the soldiers eye right it looks stupid!
I'm not so troubled by it. I'm hopeful the third dimension can "rescue" it. I especially am hopeful of some nice work on the rifle.
Okay but this rendition isn’t any better that the last rendition I saw so I hope it looks better as a coin.
One thing that bugs me is when you look at the design carefully, what is the most foreground design element? Is it that barbed wire at 4 to 6 o'clock? Can you say "obvious point of wear and/or damage"? Heaven help the digital sculptor. Also, that rendering suggests a rimless execution, like in some medals. Are they really planning to do that?
I’m sure that the design will be flat enough so all the details will wear evenly. Lol. Rim......rim.....where did I put that darn rim?
http://www.coinnews.net/2017/12/01/2018-wwi-centennial-silver-dollars-minted/ They didn't clean it up at all, that garbage empty space with the missing shoulder is still there what you see in the renderings is what you get
Let me present the Hobo coin artist that designed the WW1 commemorative Dollar coin. Mr Leroy Transfield I hope he is proud of His extremely crappy tribute to the WW1 Dough Boys. Kinda like some one putting “In loving memory” of someone on the back of a rusted out 1998 Tempo. Real classy! GOOD JOB BUDDY!
