Garlicus Debt is dumb, cash is king.

Picked this up about a year and a half ago, with some others, for the silver content. Some of the pieces were clearly jewelry pieces, and quickly assumed this was, as well. Now I'm wondering. It is highly polished, but the nooks and crannies seem way too clean. The weight is correct. And what is going on with the 8s?

Poor ipad pics, but any thoughts?

What did it weigh? Maybe see if it sticks to a magnet. The surfaces look strange. There looks like some questionable device features. If it is real than it is junk silver. Melt price seems about right.

IDK, I would think that there would be noticeable marks from whizzing, no?
    Dipped and polished?

It was dirty and/or toned, someone cleaned it, but couldn't clean the inside of the 8's.

Did a very good job on the rest, though, lol. Look at how clean LIBERTY is.

Any idea what's going on with the 8s? Some extra metal on the indents on the right. Die deterioration? (Edit: eh, whatever it is, I see on coins on PCGS's site)

Polished up. Silver bullion basically. Or use it as a pocket piece for a year or so. You’ll lose some grade and gain a surface

The points coming out of the 8's are die chips. You still may be able to identify a VAM variety, but the odds are against it since it has been polished so heavily.

Now you're talking, as you finally explained to us what you're looking at. Now I know it's cool to just act like we're all clairvoyant, but I'm not. OK, now to the question. In my my expert, experienced opinion, that's a die chip. Dies can chip everywhere. Just because the chip is adjacent to the date doesn't mean it's an underlying number. This is a die chip off that corner, in my opinion.

Die chips on the sides of the 8s happen throughout the series. It's a vulnerable spot on the die.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Extremely polished. If you look at the rim, you can also see damage from where jewelry mounts probably were. I think your initial instinct of ex-jewelry is correct.

Agreed. You can see the mounting areas very clearly in the reverse photo at 2 and 10 o’clock.
