I would love to send my first coin to be graded and a first coin to auction to sell.

That would complete all the research, hard work and effort, up to this point.

Good luck and many great finds wished for everyone, in this new year!

Mystery coins are hard to resist. This year I’d like to organize my collection and fine tune it by selling the excess stuff which should help the budget for core material.

    My favorites would be:
    Denarii
    Drachms
    Counterstamped coins

    Thanks for the chance.

Thanks for the contest @Kasia. My goals for the year would be to buy a PCGS MS 64 or higher grade Peace Dollar, buy another ancient coin, I don't CRH much anymore but if I get the chance to then have a box of halves with 20+ silver coins in it, find my first pre 1900 coin metal detecting and find my first diamond ring metal detecting.

I don't have a top three type of coins that I specifically collect, but I like Roman coins, Morgan Dollars, and I really like the design for the Standing Liberty Quarters.

I want to pass my love of numismatics on to the 2 babies in my wife's belly (that's right we are pregnant with twins, with just under a week to go!). I want to collect 2 of all of the different 2018 coins (American and world coins). 1 for each of them so that I can explain the times and changes going on when they came into the world. And for them to have a true appreciation for the history and knowledge that can be gleaned from observing the little pieces of metal that I myself am just scratching the surface of understanding.

    My 3 favorites are,

    1: Ancient Greek
    2: Roman Republic
3: Gold coins (though sadly I don't have any)

Keep working on getting Barber Half collection as complete as possible-date and mintmark. Obtain 1893 O and S and 1904 S Barber Dimes. 3rd goal make enough money to do it. I like to collect US Type, Canadian, and Scandinavian coins.

I have successfully involved my 10 year old grand daughter in numismatics. She is a maverick and so excited about collecting. Her family had to wait to go to New Years dinner as she was bidding on a coin! We have had a dismal 2017 as we lost our other grand son who was 15 and had lived with us for the first 11 years of his life. He went back to live with his mother and boyfriend and shortly thereafter took his own life. This was in March, two days before his birthday. The costs almost bankrupted us at the time. After that and I think by holding it all in, and caring for everyone else who were quite devastated, I lost my kidney function and now receive dialysis every week.
We are a strong family with lots of love. I have 3 daughters who live about 250 miles away. I am hoping to relocate back to where I always lived but it will take time. The hobby has kept me focused and lets me forget a multitude of issues. I can get lost while looking at coins. It's everyday from 5:00 A.M. to about 8 A.M. That's my window and I enjoy it immensely.
At this time I have been concentrating on finishing my Franklin half dollar book (mostly proofs and FBL's), my Mercury dime book (mostly split lines), and my quarter book. I have made great strides but still lack some of the rare ones.
I have to look at everything and typically have about 200+ coins in my watch list. I know I could not afford most of them but want them all of course. I have a $2.50 gold Indian and love it. I really like the gold Indian Princess dollar.
Many thanks for your generosity and fun contest Kasia.
Coin talk always gives me the professional guidance I desperately need. I love it! We are hoping for a much better 2018!

I'm into copper pennies, separated from zink, silver half dollars and buffalo nickels. I am building a collection for my granddaughters, who also like coins.

I see that most of the friends at CT are very senior to me and wishing to get expensive old rather antique coins which are beyond my approach. I am a simple collector of world coins. My numismatic goal for the new year is very simple - Just to complete my year-wise collection of US modern coins. For which I have to find many coins.
    I need 1 Cent: 1921-1934, 1936-1943,1945,1947-48,1950-52,1954, 1960-61,1992,2007, 2011,2013, 2015-18,
    5 Cent: 1942, 1945,1949-53,1955-60,1962-63, 1965-67,1972-75, 1977,1983,1988,1993,1998,2002, 2010-2012,2014-18, Dime: 1917,1919-43,1945,1947-49, 1951-57,1960-61,1963,1973,1979, 1988,2008-18,
    1/4 Dollar: 1947-56,1958-64, 1975.2014-18 and a few State quarters.
I hope a few of friends at CT would readily and gladly be happy to help me in this regard. Thanks in anticipation.
