Sorry been out of town for a funeral. Here are two.of the coins I purchased , the 1988 cent, I was told ,was a traditional die error , TDR. It was the reverse die used for 1989 cent. The knickles, is doubled now I need to find out what it is. An error or something else.
Come on you really buy coins you know nothing about? You don’t even spend five minutes on doubledies.com before you post your non error coins to the site? What’s wrong man? I don’t find this funny or respectfull to the CT community at all! You’ve been a member long enough now post accordingly or don’t post at all. -Full coin images Obverse and Reverse. Proper focus, lighting and orientation is most important. -Description of what we are looking at and any questions/comments wanted. Not out of focus tunnel vision closeups and partial shots of tilted coins out of focus. I REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS. Reed.
. Hey, no disrespect to you, but I am in the learning stage here and I'll improve as I learn from reading, research, and others on this site hopefully. I mean, how do I learn if I don't ask questions and as for the pics, I actually thought they were pretty good. If they don't meet up to standards then instead of jumping down my throat, give me advice on how to take better pictures. I'm all for taking others advice, even if I am wrong every time. You see, I don't claim to be an expert at this. Or maybe it would be better to not be in a good frame of mind when it comes to learning about numismatics, and collecting coins. You see I joined this site because I was told that this was the best site to learn and people were great and very helpful. Maybe I was misinformed. Anyway, I already know the penny is a TDR, and I was just trying to get some opinions and maybe some advice on the nickle. If I have offended you in any way, then my apologies. I hope you have a great new years. Duane
And the nickle is doubled, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA , ONE CENT, and PLURIBUS , are all doubled, I had to use a microscope to see it good. If it's machine doubled then fine, I don't think anything either way, and I am not going to claim either way until I can get some verification .
This site has EVERYTHING you need to know about coins. Go to the site search function and enter what ever you need to know and press search. It will bring up all the treads for the topic you entered. Read them they will answer most of your questions. If you get stumped THEN come and ask for help but at least try to help yourself first otherwise you’ll never learn. Reed.
I have done what you suggest, and as you know already, it does'nt tell you what what you see is doubled or machine doubling. Some of them look so much the same and that's why I asked for opinions, because I value CT's members opinions and advice. But I did read the forums and found out that the 88 cent was supposed to be wide and the one I posted is close, and since it is that call it , not a clam, but a transitional die reverse because they used the reverse for the 89 cent. So you see , I do a little reading. But I'll try to look elsewhere and not post much. I don't want any hard feelings. It is all good.
By the way the reason the 88 is not a clam is because they didn't classify clam or wam until, I think it said 92. But the FG on the back is thick and it's a close so it is classified as a TDR.
First coin D.D. Second coin D.D.D. Both coins exhibit classic characteristics of their error type. I found this image in less that 1 minute on the site you should have checked on first. Look familiar? Your never going to learn if you don’t look these things up yourself. The photo shows die deterioration doubling on the letters of TRUST on a 1960 Jefferson nickel that was clearly kept in use for too long a period of time. Notice how the doubling on the T actually shows on both sides of the letter. Also notice how "mushy" the letters are in appearance.
That would be highly unlikely. I looked and can’t see anything that tells me yes. But I won’t say no because the images are so poor you just can’t call it.
I can't believe you can't see this well enough to say it's a close AM, and tell that the GF is much thicker than the smaller version of the GF. Is it that you don't want to give me any credit at all? Yes I've been wrong every time.e I've posted. But this is what I say it is Nd it's not hard to see that. Oh well, thanks again.
I’m sorry but I can’t see clearly enough to call it from these pictures. The g looks thicker on the upright but it’s to blurry to see much more than that. Maybe it took a hit and that’s PMD I can’t tell from these images. I’m never going to give my opinion until I’m sure of what I’m saying, sorry. Reed.
Fair Enough, I can accept that and respect it. I guess I'm just strongly looking for some validation to know I finally got something right.
