Hello everyone, I bought a few rolls of pennies and found this 1982 and I thought I was pretty good at identifying the large dates from the small dates. This one has me confused. To me it looks like a small date because of the curve but not really sure. Would like your opinion please? Thank you.

If it makes you feel any better, I've never been able to distinguish these Large and Small date varieties, especially on the 1970 cents. Even when comparing to photos. My brain just melts.

I've never really been able to make myself care much, either, which might be part of the problem. ;)

1970 is more subtle. The curl of the 9 bends around more to a parallel in the SD and the more common LD the curl points to bottom of the 7. The point of the bottom of the 9 is sharp in the SD and in the LD the bottom is blunt. In the SD most times LIBERTY is weakly struck and in the LD it's a better strike.
