Getting back to the original question, the most important part of this equation is the coin, no matter the color of the bean. Yes, the gold bean on a lower graded coin may mean more to someone looking only to maximize profit if getting it re-graded bumps it up a couple grades. The original question can't be applied generally as no two examples are the same.

Just remember if a dealer is selling.....it's the best coin in the world.
If buying well it's......DRECK... I have 3 which I didn't bring because no one wants them.

So I guess my question is ...if in fact "the bean" no matter the color is said to increase the value of said specimen are we collectors,or dealers?
Now I totally realize that this question is a ticking bomb...so to speak as I will be reminded that yes Paddy you do buy and sell .
True at times I do....I also offer trades....but ....and there's always a but ...I have coins in my collection that have been there for 50 + years,there are coins that "I " will never sell....after I am gone that's someone else's choice.
So if your concern to me is value meaning $$$.....as aposed to the value of the coin in your collection ,being a part of a greater set or achievement,......I can see somewhat where a sticker may be a type of insurance.
However ....and I will allow my generation of collectors to chime in....that coins no matter the grade, condition, etc, etc... do and have gone down in value as well up.
If you been in this hobby 35-50 years you can certainly share these facts!
All one needs to do is use a Red Book as a "guide" over a 40 year peroid, adjust for inflation and I believe one would be shocked as to what has and has not with stood the test of time as far as holding or loosening value.
As far as being insurance goes....no matter if you're talking a slab, sticker etc....one needs to remember .... insurance is a racket.....if you win you loose...so to speake....I've. Never met one person who "personaly benefited from life insurance.....as they passed and family benefited . So Insurance is sort of betting against yourself.....the same for a bean ....you're betting against yourself ,and as well something you as an individual can control the market. True...you may win,and again you may loose.....when in fact the person you gave your $$$ to for the sticker has already won....he's got you're money.... and you got a sticker.

 

And I agree between 60-62 there really" no MORE meat " on the bone .
I buy an Au 55/58 any day over a lower MS coin.....and if I sent in 10 coins for grading ...l perfer them to come back as Au over lower MS grades.

 

If waiting until death then he's got the gold mine and you got the shaft

That's a great idea. Then we can put whatever coin we want in it. Nobody cares about what coin is in it, anyway, just how much "coin" it can fetch.

Bottom line is if you are a sticker fan, then the darned things mean something to you. I am NOT a sticker fan. I won't pay a dime more for a green one, or a gold one (nor any other assorted crap stickers).

On edit: IF I were an Indian Head cent specialist, I MIGHT pay a little extra for an "Eagle Eye" sticker.

 

Sponge Bob has a couple extra stickers He can give you if you need. His are nifty little gold stars!

That’s how silly the bean system is and you guys buy into it.
Just make the Industry stop the madness of the MAGIC beans or next week it’s the platinum bean then palladium beans and unobtainium beans.....Their just taking your money every time the shareholders want a big payout...BOOM new bean. It’s like when your stock broker wants you to buy and sell at the same time of the year every year. It’s not to benefit you or your portfolio it’s about generating activity that will benefit his income regardless of whether you make money or not he doesn’t care. Just like the industry doesn’t really care about your silly beans they only care that the beans can make them HUGE profits.

Wait and see the system is all primed for an event such as I describe. They have had to come up with new ways to increase their income streams that aren’t illegal and right now tricking the public like this is not illegal. So the next new bean is due isn’t it?
