    Mechanically removed, probably with a rotating wire brush. Worthless fake.

    The listing is obviously amateur. It says this coin should weigh 3.1 grams and weighs 2.5 grams instead. All cents after 1982 should weigh 2.5 grams. I contacted them and warned them off, let's see if I get a response. I did not report yet waiting to see what happens first.

    No they don't.. I saw the Nickel also. It has Environmental Damage :yack:

    There are many listings on ebay that are really bad. People assume that because a coin looks different that it's a Mint Error. The prices are also too extreme, such as the Cent in question.

    @abuckmaster147
    Here is the difference
    A Clad coin has had a skin of another material mechanically bonded onto it whereas a Plated coin such as the current US Cent has had the skin electrochemically deposited.

    Damaged coin, garbage. If it wasn't belt sanded (possible).....

    The only single interesting thing about it is that the stripping may have more clearly revealed planchet lines often found in Zincolns: 199xLincolnClose2_LINES.jpg

    I did get a note back..."Thanks so much for your sound and sincere advice". Sometimes it just pays to be nice the first time around.
