    Hi all,
Welcome to my first thread of 2018!
Today I want to talk about a wonderful book I picked up recently.
    The Official Red Book
A Guide Book of Modern United States Dollar Coins
    Book #22
Subjects included in this book are
History, Rarity, Grading, Values & Varieties.. and my favorite part Errors!
I started to read this book and so far I find it very informative with a lot of facsinating stories such as trial peices, problems with designs, and historical news events that occurred during different years. Here are some pictures I want to share from the pages -
The cover.. With some of my Different Dollar Coin Mint Errors

An example of a rejected design for the 1979 Dollar Coin as we know now as the Susan B. Anthony Dollar

    Mint Errors

And a cool sign on one of the US Mint Die Hubbing machines.. With a spelling error. See if you can figure it out! 20180101_144138.jpg 20180101_144202.jpg

Paddy, did you send the Mint a note that they spelled Doubled Die incorrectly on one of their signs?

    Chris

PS. Is there anything in the book that discusses the implementation of the satin finish in 2005?

I wonder if Bowers was the one who (re)discovered that Ike Small Dollar galvano? I think it was Bowers and some others who discovered that 1964 Morgan Dollar master die last year at the Philadelphia Mint.

Oh, and nice write up! Anytime good coin books are shared, it's always worth it...

I enjoyed your book review, @paddyman98 ! I never knew about trial pieces. You always show us amazing errors - all hits, no misses! (Ugh! That was pretty bad. Sorry!)

To prevent "Double dies" lmao... not even the mint can get it right.

Must not have that sign up in Philly, they seem to be the only one producing doubled dies-- but hey I'm not complaining.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

If the mint calls them double dies, can we finally put that ridiculous and tired gripe to bed?

    Good book review, though.
