Hi all, So I snagged a bank roll of 1955 P cents. I need help determining what proofs look like vs uncirculated. I'm attaching photos and I'm assuming they're all just unc but some have clear reverse doubling and staring at these things is playing tricks on my eyes! Thanks for any advice Luke
Nice looking coins. I doubt that any proofs would be in there. But you never know. The reason I say that, there are no unsearched coins. Whoever put this together, was probably trying to find a 1955-DD. And then sold them after the search. They certainly look nice (MS, whatever, uncleaned.) But since they have been searched, the searcher is not going to leave a $15 (or whatever) proof coin in that roll.
So... did you just win this eBay auction? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-P-OBW-ORIGINAL-BANK-WRAPPED-ROLL-BU-UNCIRCULATED-LINCOLN-WHEAT-CENT-PENNIES-/272991142508?hash=item3f8f8a426c:g:FYIAAOSw8C9Z4qNU&nma=true&si=7RaBBeLtVpZwIJYekOQgJieXGfs%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Edit: I suppose probably not since you already have pictures.
Yeah I live off of that site. I guess the proof would be super obvious then regardless of lighting. Almost all of the coins have some sort of doubling. Thank you for the clarity
I see. Thank you! Discerning between the varieties of errors is daunting.. Need to send some in to get graded. Any advice?
I use NGC. Grading will cost about $25+ per coin. You need to see what graded UNC's are worth presently to see if it's worth your time & money.
I'll do that thank you. My wife brought this home the other day. It has a weird tone that doesn't look natural to me but I thought it was cool.
What would you grade them? Cropped and full size photos would be helpful. Nice looking coins, they seem well struck.
I have no idea to be honest. Trying to figure out if what I have is fs 102 or not at this point. Ill upload some detail of the lettering.
