I miss you guys so much!! I have not been on in a while because I have been having severe problems with my eyes. I see several images of things and I lose my balance. I have seen 3 different eye specialists at MUSC and nobody can tell me what is wrong. It may be neurological but they don't know. I have had an MRI and an EEG. They think that I have to be having an episode when they look at my eyes. When I have an episode, it has been happening for hours or all day. It makes me very sick on my stomach because of the dizziness. Often times I have to slide down the stairs on my butt because I can't judge depth. Taking care of my kids has been a real challenge. I don't have anyone that can help me at home because everyone works. My husband works 7 days a week. Life has been very difficult. Sometimes working on my coins helps because I am looking at something very close. Looking in a distance makes it worse. So, that is why I have not been on in a while. Please pray for me guys!! I need good vibes!! Love you guys and I hope to be on again regularly sometime soon!!
Prayers for your healing going up as I write this. Hope they find out the cause and your life gets back to normal very soon! Hang in there and I am pulling for you!
Is it out of the blue, then goes away? Or is it always, sometimes worse, sometimes better? Does it start like you can't see clearly, you know, same effect like when they put those drops in your eyes at the doctor? Get headaches and throw up sensations? Try to dial the phone but can't see the keys? Do you work with chemicals or metals?
@Sheila Ruley My postmaster's husband is going through the same thing and they, also, think it's neurological. I am a prayer person and you are in them my dear. Get well soon.
So so sorry. You have my thoughts and best wishes. Keep after the doctors, after all that "practice", hopefully they can get some things right.
It happens randomly. It gets worse really bad and then better. I cannot see clearly at all what so ever. I I see multiples and cannot tell which one is real. There is no pain at all. When it happens, I cannot see anything. Not numbers or phone keypad or anything. I do not work with chemicals or metals and never have. It started a couple years ago and this year has been really really bad. I just had a three day episode this week. Yes, it does make me throw up. My balance gets too far off that I cannot stand up very well or walk. Sometimes, it gets so bad that I cannot even sit up. I took my kids to the pediatricians office and lost all my balance to the point I could not sit up and they ended up calling my husband from work and I ended up in the hospital. They could not find anything wrong. They just told me that I need to see a specialist. When I get an episode, I can feel it coming on and there is nothing I can do. I often times have to lay down and close my eyes to help. But most of the time it does not clear it up, it just keeps me from losing my balance so bad.
I am certainly no one qualified to give advice. But as I recall, in my postmaster's husbands case, they are still not exactly sure what is causing the problem but did correct the eyesight problem with prism glasses. This helped the blur, dizziness and nausea. No one at this point has pinpointed the exact cause yet.
Dang. I do have to wear certain lenses for my glasses too. So far, nothing has made any difference. I am so scared of losing my vision and not being able to see my kids grow up. Today has been a decent day, but still dizzy. They have ruled out vertigo. They had me scheduled for a fourth specialist, but we have no insurance and cannot afford it. There are no special programs that I can get into either. They do not do a sliding scale either. We are financially strained anyway. We had to pay $1000 upfront for my EEG. We just cannot afford those kind of bills. If they could pinpoint my problem, I could probably qualify for disability. If I could get on disability, all my medical would be free. But, without a proper diagnosis, I cannot do that right now. I rarely leave my house because I don't know when and episode will come on. If it happens while I am driving, I am not only putting my kids and I in danger, but also others on the road. When my husband drives, if I have an episode in public, my husband would have to help me walk. It's just too much of a risk. on top of all of this, we just found out that my son is autistic and nonverbal. We are just starting the process of getting in home care for him. Life is pretty interesting these days.
Hopefully you get better soon Sheila and they can figure it out. Having medical issues is very frustrating. VERY!
Interesting... I don't have a horrible diet, but I don't always eat really healthy either. I eat a lot of salads because I love them so much. But, many days, I don't eat because I feel sick because of the dizziness.
My migraines used to happen when I would have a significant amount of msg, say hotdogs, dorito nacho cheese chips, some chinese/asian fast foods, etc. (you know, health food!). Then I'd start seeing half of everything (the ocular thing @wcoins mentioned) which led to me getting nauseated. Then that would pass after a half hour or so but then was closely followed by tremendous pain in the ol' noggin. Nothing you can do but pop Tylenol and passout for several hours. I've grown out of this somehow, and now I can go back to my nacho cheese dorito diet. - woohoo! My brother had the exact same symptoms, but it was caused by stress - not food.
I just looked over what the specialists wrote down. They ruled out ocular migraines. I had to sign in on my patients portals medical reports for the patient can see whatever they have done.
I am so sorry for you and hope very much for your complete recovery, but allow me to make a funny that might not be funny but I hope you take it in the spirit in which it is offered...Drink more, if you are going to be disoriented, enjoy it
Reminds me of an inner ear infection I had once. Even when I was lying or sitting down I felt I was going to fall over. Double vision. Felt drunk. Couldn’t focus on anything - But I am sure they must have checked your inner ear first thing. Could it be stress related? Maybe you need some attention. Some regularly administered hugs of appreciation? Here is a virtual hug. Any help at all? You may need the actual electricity exchanged in a good long embrace during which you can relax, give up control of everything you must normally be on top off, and completely exhale.
