The coins real, the slab is real, the CAC is real. I have no idea what machine you were trying to use but I am not surprised that it didn't work through the slab.
Unnecessary and would lose the CAC unless it was sent back there to be restickered. If someone wants to be ultra paranoid they could call CAC about it and they'll verify it The only reason to reslab it would be if someone just wanted it in a new slab or wanted to switch it to a gold shield holder or the current slab got damaged.
I never asked for more pictures.. so I don't know why the OP keeps referring to me I believe it's real. Just an old slab and I thought the same about the CAC sticker.
I also would agree that the slab/coin are 100% geniune. Some faked slabs have come out of China (what else is new) But these Chinese fakes are easy to ID/ like anything else coming from there
My sigma metalytics tester shows it’s not real gold. It has shown us a proper reading on all our other NGC and PCGS coins without any false readings at all. It is designed to work through a slab coin to check metal content. I want to avoid spending the extra cash to get it into a new slab. Should I try getting it scanned by xrf for gold test not sure if that test works through a coin slab? I have seen fake cac coins. That’s why if it’s the wrong metal reading on my machine my alarm sounds off. I know metal content alone is not a 100% accurate as a giveaway for a fake but my eyes currently are not trained enough to see any problems with slab or coin since I am new to graded coins. That’s why I am taking extra precautions to stay safe because China fakes are getting better every day. Thanks for the replies so far it’s been super helpful it’s nice to get some community help / advice I have Four last noob questions 1. Yes or no on the xrf test over reslabing the coin? 2. What’s the strange internal brown mark imbedded in the plastic on the corner of the coin in the pictures ? 3. Does the sticker on the coin logo look tampered uneven and shredded like the fakes? 4. What’s it worth to you if this arrived in your shop how much would you pay?
The coin and slab are both 100% genuine, and I would add correctly graded. Nice piece, no need to worry.
Fake CAC Coin And Slab more info on the links below. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/a-...rgan-for-only-49-dorrahs-and-99-sants.205018/ http://www.theblackcabinet.org/series/counterfeit-slabs/
If you read the thread someone points out that the site said it was using a stock photo for the listing which would imply that is a stock photo not their fake. That coin sold at heritage and legend. https://coins.ha.com/itm/morgan-dol...-pcgs-cac/a/1160-4072.s?hdnJumpToLot=1x=0&y=0 https://legendauctions.hibid.com/lot/23363415/-1-1878-cc-pcgs-ms64--pl-cac/ The pictured coin isn’t fake. The cert would have been killed and the coin reholdered if it were fake considering the thread was from 2012. They almost certainly stole the picture somewhere. That wouldn’t have been what you got if you ordered from the listing that is gone. They simply aren’t that good Also none of the black cabinet fake slabs have cac
This coin is in your possession? This is the other coin you sniffed through the slab and this one is real metal? APPLES AND ORANGES YOU DONT OWN? Come on either your real stupid or you think we are. Give it up will you. If you bought the coin that you originally posted then what the hell does it matter how much it cost to get it reslabbed? The coin is worth a lot of money what does a new slab cost. I’m loosing patience with you and I’m sure I’m not the only member that won’t be helping you from now on if you continue to act the fool AND WASTE OUR TIME. I don’t care what you think, I’m done with you. YOU MAKE NO SENSE!
But if they Thanks for your input it’s helpful so far. I am simply suggesting that if they can fake a pcgs Cert number by copying from a legitimate coin. They can do the same for cac coins. If by going to the websites checking known originals all you would have to do is take a pcgs or ngc cert that has been at auction that has had a cac sticker then make the same cert and add a similar looking sticker and it would show up as real on the cac website since cac does not include pictures of the original coin!
The gold coin in the pictures is my coin. I appreciate your good suggestions about reslabing it however if I do I may not be able to return back to the dealer for refund or exchange if it turns out to be a fake coin. However I realized after many searches on google that sigma can have problems reading smaller coins in slabs. I really appreciated your advice and the help of the forum. However I am still confused about some issues on the slab the brown hue imbedded inside the corner of the slab not sure what that is exactly ? I noticed on the fake slabs the logo sticker looks ripped up and uneven based on a few different links as does mine is this normal? I have checked so far many websites those minor or not issues still raise flags for me besides the metal not showing up on my machine as gold. I may try my luck with my garret metal detector to hear sound differences from Morgan’s to Gold pcgs coins to hear if I can tell the difference not sure if that will work. Is it possible to xrf scan a slab coin? I do request more info if anyone has any more ideas on how to check the coin that would be awesome and a big help. I will give cac a call to verify as one member suggested. Thanks in advance ! I wish you all a blessed new year.
You stated you had seen fake cac coins and then posted a real one. Faking a Cert number means nothing that’s the easy part. They have to fake the coin perfectly then fake the slab perfectly then fake a cac sticker perfectly. They can’t do and won’t put the money into it to try and get it perfect. The ones making them sell them for a few dollars that’s all scammers will pay. The scammers are the ones trying to make the huge bucks with them. It’s no where near as easy as you are saying
I hope so I have seen other images of fake slabs but as you said they could be real. I am still a noob to coins so I am just doing my due diligence. I hope your correct about them not being able to make fakes that good as you suggest. I have heard of nightmare stories that is why I am scrutinizing so much. I would like to have some good fakes so I can compare to see what to lookout for. So far my abilities is limited in what I know. This coin is not able to pass the gold test so that raises a big flag for me. What else can I do to check? I have studied the coin on pcgs website in ms 65/66 with a loop. The coin looks good. But could it be possible to look this good and be fake ? Based on your replies I gather you trust the coin without questions. Thank You.
The sticker looks uneven on the bottom and shredded on top like the fakes . There is a strange brown tinge inside the slab on the corner not sure if it was open or melted. And my sigma shows negative on 90% gold 0 gold content and 15.5 not 10.10 +11 in measurement mode as all my other coins show up positive (this could be a false report based on the size of coin) so I am not 100% on it. Thanks! Cheers
The test you used shouldn’t raise any red flags as it was a flawed test to begin with. What fakes would those be, you've yet to show one
