Hi all, I wanted to share my latest and my last Mint Error acquisition for 2017 $1 Eisenhower - Denver Mint - Bicentennial - Type 2 Straight Clip (Incomplete Planchet) Enjoy! Have a safe and Happy New Year!
There can't be a ton of bi-centennial errors out there. I would think that makes this piece even more desirable.
There is a misconception about the word 'Clip' or 'Clipped'... Coins are never clipped after they are struck. The Blank Planchets are punched out close to the previous blank that was punched out so that why it appears to be clipped. In this case the Blank was punched out from the end of the strip or the edge. Here is some great information I want to share with you - http://www.ebay.com/gds/Coins-with-Clips-Incomplete-Planchet-/10000000176091153/g.html
Have you ever given any thought to contacting some local Boy Scout troops to offer to teach a coin collecting merit badge class? I think with your knowledge and coin examples, it would make a fine class.
Paddyman98. Can you please post a close up IGWT plus the last six in the date? They look like something is going on with them. But I can't enlarge your photo's enough to tell what it is.I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks have a grand day!
I tried. I need to get myself a new USB camera or microscope. It's hard to take a pictures of slabbed coins. But there is no doubling if that's what you are thinking about. The O in GOD took a hit and the 1976 has what looks like a bit of Mechanical doubling at certain angles -
Surprisingly, there are quite a few. PCGS downgraded it on the crossover. Just looking, I have a few more. None the less, congrats @paddyman98
It looked better in the NGC Slab! Thanks for sharing. I have been collecting a lot of Ike Mint Errors. I just got a Book on Dollar coins. I will be reviewing it then posting all of my Ike errors. Be on the look out... or I will tag you then
I always love your posts. You get me more and more interested in error coins every time I see one of your coins!
