Can anyone please help me with this quarter. I had this quarter in my collection for a while now and I am not sure whether it is an actual error or not. Any help would be appreciated.
It's a late die state, and shows a lot of die deterioration. The reverse could have already been replaced, and look nothing like the obverse. What does it look like?
This is how the reverse looks like. So, if it is a die deterioration, is it considered an error coin?
Welcome to CT! No this would not be an error. It was just one of the last coins this die minted before they replaced it. Edited to add that this would still be worth holding onto for educational purposes in the very least.
As others have said, it's was minted from a very, very worn die. That is a pretty bad example. Although it really doesn't have any premium, if I got it in change, I would put it in a 2x2 and save it.
