Well the Perth mint decided to pre issue the 2008/09/10 so that they could begin issuing series II to coincide with the begining of the new lunar cycle LOL also the new ones are on a slightly larger in size, I have the latest series II year of the Rat but Mrs Orc wont let me have it till Xmas So here are two that I do have LOL One other point the year of the Rat has been renamed 'Year of the Mouse'!! so as not to offend some people :headbang: 2007 $1 1oz Silver Year of the Rat 2008 QEII 2007 $1 1oz Silver Year of the Ox 2009 QEII She is also keeping the 2010 away from me till Xmas, she is quite heartless at times LOL have a look see and let me know what you think of them Ps also added this one while not the Lunar issue it is from Oz LOL 2008 $1 1oz Silver Kookaburra QEII Check out the spiders web, I think the spider got munched LOL
Great collection DO. I'm a big fan of the lunar series. I also have all the 1oz silver series I and all but 2 of the gold series 1 oz coins (well, other than the dog proof - too much $, though it is a different design so I guess that would be 3). I still haven't decided whether or not I will collect the lunar II series. Are you? While on this topic, I've read many sites that said the perth mint would release the final mintages of the series this fall. Have you heard anything about the final mintages? Thanks
No not heard a thing on the mintage other than what you have heard Yes I will be collecting series II in silver cant afford the gold LOL and allready have the first one, well I will on Xmas day the Mrs wont let me have it before LOL
Love the Lunar series. I've been trying to put together a complete Dog set, both silver and gold (uncirculated) -- but then found out it's about as close to impossible as there is, for me to do... They've evidently minted Gold 1oz, 2oz, 10oz, and Kilo coins (in addition to the fractionals). Don't think I'll ever get to the point where a Kilo of gold will be even a remote consideration (unless I somehow steal that Gold Star from a kid on Kid Nation...)...
Are you also including the proof version of the dog? Why did they have to change the design of the proof dog than the bullion dog. argggg.
Nope, just the uncirculated versions, nor am I a huge fan of paying double spot for such a coin.. And hey, it helps that I'm not the biggest Chow person..
Last I heard they were still taking orders for all the dates, so I wouldn't expect final mintage figures anytime soon.
You could allways try putting them up on Ebay if you cant find a dealer, unfortunatly I dont live in the US so cant point you in the direction you need
Two more today pics posted just follow the link in my sig :hail: Australia 2007 $1 1oz Silver Year of the Tiger Elizabeth II 2008 $1 1oz Silver Year of the Rat Elizabeth II Series II The new series II is larger than the old series but still weighs in the same :smile
Diameter of Lunar Series II Hi Everyone, Just got my Year of the Mouse coin and I love it!!! I did notice that the coin has a larger diameter. Does anyone know what the diameter is? I'm trying to see if I can find a holder for the coin. I don't like the one that it was sent in. I usually use Air Tite Direct Fit Holders and wanted to see if I can find one. Thanks!!!
Well this one has been waiting to get scanned since Xmas LOL 2009 Lunar Year of the Ox Series II $1 A ox and a calf standing on grass with hills in the background, the inscription ‘Year of the Ox’ and the Chinese character for ‘ox Queen Elizabet II by Ian Rank-Broadley P mm = Perth Mint
