I found this while roll hunting penny's. It is a penny from Bermuda and on the reverse is a swine. This is the first I have seen of this type.

My first four boxes for the week and end of the year week all skunks. Not a great start to the end of the year!. I sure hope I don't end this year on a skunk. That would not be a very good ending. Wishing you all the best. Until the marrow!

Nothing major to report. Found a 1942P penny in a roll from the box

Stopped by a local bank where I don't have an account. Asked for halves, they sold me $9 worth. I could see silver rims, and tried not to squirm as the head teller perused what the young teller was selling to me. She didn't say anything, just handed them over and wished me a Happy New Year. Got to the car and couldn't believe it, 2 Benjamins!

Box of dimes and box of nickels on the day off. Box of dimes produced one 1964. Halfway through the nickels and about a dozen pre 60 and a couple of what appear to be low end BUs from the late 60s from the S.F. Mint. Nothing to exiting but a day finding silver is better than a day not.

Well everyone, after dumping 6 boxes of halves today I decided to call it quits on Coin Roll Hunting. It just got too time consuming dumping as my banks are too far apart. I haven't gotten much in months. I'm moving on. Hope the rest of you find tons of silver and rare coins!

I'm not leaving this site! I still love coins and bullion so I will be posting in those forums still.

Went to deposit a check today, and a teller there said he had a load of silver dollars. They were just the Ikes, but he had 21 of them. (He means well, but doesn't really know coins.) Got them home and sorted through them. They were all bicentennials. Of note was a single 76s, type 1.

I already have one in my album, so this is a spare. Anyone want to make an offer for it? I don't want to save it, but don't want to spend it either.

Bought a partial bag of halves today ($155). Found 4 silvers & 1 NIFC which is more silver than I have found in awhile! The halves added up almost exact at $154.50, but there were 4 quarters, a dime, and a Mexican 10 pesos included. Checked on another bag at a different bank and it's up to ~$500. Vault teller will sell it to me when it gets full ($1000). I figure about another 2 months if I'm lucky!

Lucky. Nobody around here will sell me bags off their machines.

Yes, I have been lucky. Some branch managers have been a hard sell to let me buy bags, others are happy to do so! Sometimes it's bank policy, sometimes it's discretion. A bank here in town has about 10 branches all with a coin machine. Bank policy prohibits selling bags to customers let alone "No-accounts" like me. :arghh::eek::yack::wacky: Getting permission there would be a silver mine!!!!

I used to get bags from a branch that was my pick up branch. Then one day that got shut down hard. The vault manager didn't care, he was totally cool with me collecting and buying bags as long as I didn't bring it back to him. But the branch manger was a less than nice lady and she finally shut down all orders for me. I moved to another branch and they are awesome. Unfortunately the CU pulled all their coin machines from their branches. At least they are totally cool with ordering for me every week :)

Trish was sick yesterday. Don't know if she will.buy my box or whether I'll have to take it to our bank.
Didn't look with a loupe but I'm pretty sure I got another 42P.

Earlier in December, I was on a business trip and decided to treat myself. Went to buy a $1000 bag from a bank I knew well and produced in the past. One teller said "we don't have bags - we ship them out," but the Head Teller knew better. She said, "We don't have bags, but I have $1,060 in the vault from the past year." I bought it and it didn't disappoint. Produced 2 stacked $20 rolls of 40's, 1 roll of BU '64s, a proof, 5 loose 40's, 16 NIFC's and 3 No-FGs. Note the spelling on the rolls - they are "as found." Enjoy!

The Redbook explains the significance of the swine in its description of the Sommer Islands coinage in the Colonial Issues section. So this is a case where a modern coin has a connection to an early American coinage from 1616. Cool find!

Ah, go ahead and spend it! It's always fun to watch people's reactions. For the perfect trifecta, make a purchase of around $3.50 and then pay for it with a $2 bill, an SBA, and a half dollar.

Thanks! I thought this was very different. I live in Arizona, a little ways away from Bermuda.

I have a great relationship with my personal Credit Union and the branch manager there. She knows that I collect coins and we've had many discussions about the hobby. She did some checking up the "chain of command" and asked about my purchasing the coin machine bags. She was willing to sell them to me but the official answer was that the CU couldn't sell them because they don't own the machines. They are owned by a third party service provider.

Even though I wish the answer was different, I understand the rationale behind the answer and I'm just happy that she was willing to track down the official policy and be honest with me.
