  1. OK.....THE PENNY HAS THE TOPS OF THE NUMBERS INSIDE EACH OTHER.....PLATING MAKES NUMBERS APPEAR??? THE DIME SHOTS....LOOK AT THE HORN COMING OUT OF THE SIDE OF THE FIVE, THEN LOOK AT THE DOUBLING ON THE 5 ITSELF....I TRIED TO GIVE THE BEST ZOOMS I COULD, HOPING IT HELPS AND SHOWS. ITS QUITE FRUSTRATING NOT HAVING GREAT PICS, THANKS.

All caps comes across as shouting. Asking for our help while shouting at us tends not to get much in the way of help.

  4. I'm sorry....not shouting at all. I value everyones opinion, just want you to see what I'm seeing...lolol. Thanks much.

  5. Oh my goodness!!! Please examine the first dime pic....it appears there is another 5 offset behind the five and the 2 also...if it is so that would make this dime struck 4 times. Please look carefully. Thanks.....

You will need to work on your photos, these are not conclusive.

  7. I agree...not the best pics but you have to admit there is something there..I believe this dime was struck 4 times on the date...the first pic. Thank you.

Flash will give the appearance of doubling when it isn't there.
Try to give them some depth of field,
So, it was struck 4 times? in just 1/4 of the field on a dime?
I am saying MD and DDD.
Wexlers site has a lot of information on how coins are struck. http://doubleddie.com/144801.html

  9. Thanks much....I think I'm just going to send them all to be pro evaluated.

The photos aren't the best, but I'm
certain you don't have a triple or
    quadruple struck coin.

The doubling, or more, that you see
is probably due to a worn or overused
    die.

As mentioned above, it's your money,
but I wouldn't spend anything to get them
authenticated - a complete waste of your
money - save it for a book or two on
Die Varieties; the kinds of coins you are
    finding in change...much better spent
on books than on fees for minor anomolies,
    in my onion......

Mr. Weinberg just gave you a professional opinion free of charge. Throw them in the change jar.

  13. Thanks for responding. I don't know...I clearly see a horn on the side of the 5...that's one strike.....I can clearly see the lines in the 5 and 2 that are doubled and to the left is another 5 and 2 flattened by the die field....I'm seeing 4 strikes on the date....not the best pics but I think it can be seen.

yes but its not true hub doubling, its worthless doubling, take Mr. Weinberg's expert advice and move on....

  18. ok...they are worth just a dime...tossing them back into the jug.

John, you're trying too hard to find something, anything (!), that isn't really there. I strongly suggest that before you start looking for errors, you should spend more time learning about the minting process. That way, you won't waste your time looking at coins like this.

Honestly, the one thing that I am in agreement with you is that the photos aren't good enough.

Definitely not true doubling... When Fred W. gives you his evaluation, you have just received the opinion of the noted expert on errors. Save your money...
