1982 Large Date

    Found this while searching through rolls...

    Where do you see doubling?
    I see a Misaligned Die Strike on the Obverse side.

    Just wanted to post the two pictures I was telling you about the 1982 small Cent and the1982 large cent you can see a definite difference in the two one weighs 2.5 the other weighs 3.1

    Barbermania, they changed the 95% copper cent to 97% zinc in 1982. So you will find 1982 3.1 grams and 2.5 gram cents. But they didn't stop there,

    While the new penny was the exact same size as the old one, it weighed less because zinc is slightly less dense than copper. The change from copper to zinc took place in 1982. The mint was also experimenting with the size of the date so there are actually 7 different types of pennies dated 1982.

    You are absolutely right and that's a lot of varieties for one cent in one year.

    It looks doubled on the date but I could be wrong.

    Yes I was thinking the date was doubled.... anyone else have an opinion?
