Photos of doubled dies should be taken from straight above, well centered on the subject,

I'll share a little background on how I got started with this hobby. I have a disability that is prevents me from getting/sustaining a gainful employment. I needed something that will pre-occupy my mind so as an not to give in to despair. I happened to come by some coins and paper money that I kept during my time in the service. Initially I wanted to see if it contained any precious metals. Then all this sites popped up on different topics and attributes that make a coin valuable. I liked that you need to really pay attention to details. I loved the fact that it kept my mind occupied which aid todistract me from intruding thoughts. However, it turned out that I actually love and enjoyed doing it. It helped me socialize with cashiers, tellers, just to name a few. Eventually, it led me to this group. I've learned a lot from this group.
I know that the experienced members are getting fatigued from questions especially those that pertain to doubling and coin value. Some members alluded that some are lazy and were just relying on members opinions, insights and expertise. Unfortunately, majority of my post/questions is about DD. I just don't have a knack when it comes to identifying true DD.
I joined this group to learn from everyone, experience not withstanding.
As for posting an image, I just have to do with what I have. I am trying to learn how to take better photos. I would love to get my hands on some better equipment but my resources are quite limited. Not having the equipment doesn't imply that this is a passing fancy. However, that is your opinion, I may not agree with it, but,I respect it.
    Thanks for your patience.

Understood. It's a process. And don't let it discourage you, but "the process" is never complete.

I think that Mr. Bellman is finding a fancy for a new collection.
His opinion would be that conclusive photos would be needed for this area of numismatics. Doubled die's either are or they aren't, and most of the time, they are hard enough for an experienced collector.
There are many class's of Doubled dies, each of them hold to a pattern. MD or die deterioration can happen anywhere on the coin.

I doubt I'll ever care about errors. My thing is trying to find pieces as close to perfect as I can find and afford, for my main series. Aside from that, I like to get almost anything in world coins, just to study the techniques other places use that we don't. I am struggling to try to accept Mint original colorized coins, but I'm not doing well. They just annoy me to death. If the U.S. ever goes down some of the stupid paths Canada has, I'll just throw up my hands and establish my own "this is the end of the world that matters to me" date right there, much like a bunch of other guys did for clad coins.

Errors? No time to care. Ain't happenin'.

@mikenoodle knows what type of stuff gets my interest. He's seen me carefully going through modern $100 Kennedy half canvas bags, and S-mint non-proof ATB quarter bags, looking for candidates for MS67's and 68's and PL designations. Will I ever profit from them? I don't care. Maybe my son will, and that's what motivates me. I don't have enough years left to profit from much of anything in this hobby. I'm already well into my bucket list and I don't have time for mediocrity. I'm all about the excellence.

I've sworn to not do ANYTHING halfway for the rest of my life. I'll do it "full goose bozo", or I won't do it at all.

Like what? Like arguing my own case pro se before my state's Supreme Court, even though I'm not a lawyer. Talk about a head rush!!! (It was a political redistricting case.) My new home is a 5-minute walk from the state Supreme Court's courtroom, and even CLOSER to the federal courthouse. I'm not finished.

There IS a downside to living here. Tonight's "active shooter" likely terrorism situation in Harrisburg happened right outside my window, and I couldn't get home from Christmas shopping in the York, PA area.

Thank you both for sharing your opinions, comments, insight, and suggestions.
Unlike you guys, I have yet to decide which coin I would like to focus on. Although, for some reason, I find myself drawn towards both the Kennedy halves and the SBA dollar.
I have some Kennedy halves and SBA dollar coin which I want to send to be graded. Hoping to do it before the year ends.

If that's your thing, I sincerely hope they are simply magnificent examples seemingly without flaw.

Good morning sir! I believe I have several that can pass muster. Can I ask you a quick one. I downloaded this pcgs coin grading app. I'm a bit confused. Does the coin need to have this type of toning to get a MS68 grading Screenshot_20171223-054706.png . Thank you

I wish I could say the answer is "no". I'm not so sure. Yes, there are extremely modern coins, usually not made intended for circulation, that routinely can be graded 68, 69, or even 70, and they are blast white. But after a certain age, it DOES seem to me that unless a coin has some toning to it, a 67 is about the top that we ever see. Some here will attempt to deny that toning literally adds grading points to a coin, but I've personally seen enough to prove to me this is very real.

    Hi,

My bank keeps aside half's for me.. in 3 rolls all but about 8 had different die cracks; mostly at the LHS edge of the neck, but a few had the same tears and some has dribble at the corner of the mouth. So, you aren't imagining things!
