1990-P dime seems to have an odd copper finish. And the 76 just looks quite odd to me. Any ideas coin community?
Environmental damage after it left the mint. The 90P could be heat or it was in contact with something reactive, the 76 looks like it's been sitting in a mildly acidic solution. Spenders
First, welcome to the neighborhood! I wouldn't unload the 1990-P just yet. It looks like it is either an off-center strike or the result of a misaligned die. @paddyman98 - What say you? Chris
Is that considered a somewhat desirable error? If so wouldn't any premium it would carry be diminished due to the color of the coin.
It's a very very minor mis-aligned die, more of an anomaly than an 'error'. I don't think it would bring any premium, even on Ebay, although you can try to sell it there. That would be the ONLY venue to possibly sell it, imo.
Thanks @Fred Weinberg I am just curious as to the issue not typically on this coin in general but on all. Wouldn't an errors value be diminished by things like the color of something like this. Also really in it for the long haul not looking for that quick $ that I see all of these post about lol.
To some, maybe yes, maybe no! There are people on this forum who collect them. That doesn't mean that they are worth a premium, but if you are just starting to get interested in error coins, it may be worthwhile to hang onto it until a better example comes along. Chris
