1989 d Lincoln cent

    Next to the " D " looks like a 5 imprint and I was thinking in the year has a slight doubled " 8 " and " 9 " or it's just die deterioration no hopes on this one but that 8 looks doubled

    They didn't put 5s next to Ds on these, @Gator, and that 89 is just the way the plating on these often times takes the strike.

    I'm croping the pic I don't have any idea but there is a "5" and a "2" imprint next to the "D"

    It's gas bubbles on a copper plated zinc cent, not a 5 and 2.

    Yes.. but it is Die Deterioration doubling :yack:
    The rest is a plating issue caused by the Deterioration

    I know this is off topic but from 1982 and on the penny weight should be 2.5 grams not 3.1 the question I have is I have a bunch of 82 pennies weighing 3.1 grams are they worth keeping or back to the bank jar

    Part way through 82 they changed the composition of the cents from copper to copper plated zinc. Some will weigh 3.1 and some 2.5.

    K that's what I thought too many weighed out at 3.1 I know 83 and up are zinc copper plated at 2.5 ok thank you that answered my question
