Is this a badly worn die?

Or did something else cause this strike?

Both sides of the coin have a strong strike in the center, but along the edge it looks like a weak strike. There is a lot of striation, which leads me to believe the die was polished.

    What do you guys think?

I think the mint employee used a 6” disk grinder on that one if it’s been over polished.

With a 6” grinder I’ll make those dies deteriorate!

Does the coin have proper alignment between obverse and reverse? I ask because near the leaves to the right of the torch on the reverse it appears to have ghosting (direct design transfer) from the obverse; however, the most apparent place it would seemingly mimic would be around Roosevelt's neck. Often times a rotated die can also result in features of the coin not filling correctly.

Man That one looks like about a 60% strike. I got some 2017D in change the other day that look like they were struck from fresh new polished dies. What a difference. Those dimes looked perfect. I didn’t look at them with a loupe but I’ll bet they were close to fully struck if not fully. They were gorgeous! This dime is not. I’m sorry swan your baby is ugly.
    Sincerely,
    Reed

Due to the striations at the outer edges, I would think Die Deteriortion.
