Got a strange looking black 2016 Shield Penny no Rim very flat all around smooth and flat his some photos I don't know what this penny is anyone seen something like this thank you for your input
I just wanted to add that 2016 Shield Penny only weighs 2.3 G so way underweight for a new Lincoln Shield zinc Penny should be 2.57 any comments please help thank you
Im buying a metal detector very soon I'll talk to you about it next month to see what you suggest for a beginner and I'm going to hit the Florida beaches
make sure you check for any local metal detecting restrictions in your area, i was on a detecting forum last year and someone mentioned that in his area of florida (dont know where) he is only allowed to detect in the water and not up on the sand, here in jersey, no detecting in state parks without a permit and then its only on lake beaches and anything found must be turned in for 60 days, you dont want to get slapped with a summons for enjoying a hobby....
IDK where you got your 2.57 figure. I believe all the zincs are supposed to be 2.5g with a +-.13 tolerance. 2.37/2.63 Normal cents that are underweight could have a premium, but damaged road rashed coins generally are not.
I think all 'Zincoln' cents, especially the newer shield reverse ones, were created with planned obsolescence in mind - they will self-destruct over time
