Hello everybody I went to my first coin show today and had a great time! I went to a show in Redford Michigan found here-

I got some great new coins world and US but unfortunately there were no-little ancients (I saw 3 but one was 12 bucks for a common Constatine and the other two were gold) I am so happy I went it was very informational and I had a great time, I'm not sure if I really got "deals" but I like what I got and here it is-

Crappy home made US Nickle set with a common worn buffalo, clad Jefferson, worn war nickle (the only reason I really bought it, I don't have one) and a very worn V nickle. I got this for $1.25

A slabbed 1971 proof penny (my first slabbed coin and first proof) for a buck.

1967 (supposedly SMS) dime for a buck

    1908-D barber dime for 5.50

    1960 proof dime for $2.50

    1912 Barber half for $20

    7 copper rounds $7

    World coins 12 for $1 and $1 for 4 large penny's

3 nice ASE holders for $3

Here's the pictures I have no idea why I couldn't take pictures for my life today so sorry. Oh also the marked prices on the coins aren't what I paid above are gave me some off to be nice :). And I bought most of this for my US 7070 type set but I'm not sure I'll ever get the expensive stuff like the SLQ's and seated stuff, I don't care about dates at all, I care about condition.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Glad you had a good time! I wouldn't expect to find many ancients at a small local show like this. While ancients are popular and widely collected around the globe, there isn't much market for them at a small show like this.

Out of curiosity, what was your goal in purchasing these pieces? Did they contribute to a set you're building? Did you buy them because they looked cool? Did you buy them because you thought they were a good price? Or was there some other motivation for these purchases? It seems like a lot of random purchases, but I'm wondering if there was some purpose.

My point in these questions: there is an allure at a show - I see it, it looks cool, I have to buy it. I have succumbed to this many times myself. I've found, after going to many shows, that when I go with a goal (some concrete idea of a set I'm building, or looking for a very specific item), my shows are more successful.

I realize this is your first show, and I'm really glad you had a good time.

ABSOLUTE FUN!!! Glad you enjoyed it. I went to a local show recently and that is where I picked up my dolphin for $20...it never hurts to ask if they have ancients, and if they aren't really into it, you might get some KILLER deals.
