The 4 looks doubled and the 1 looks faint in front of the 2. Or I'm wishing it looks like it. Any feedback is appreciated.
Compare yours to a pic from PCGS Coinfacts. Sorry, but not even close. The 4 looks like it has some damage from a circulation hit.
It's the second thing you said. Your mind is playing tricks on you. So many people do this, these days, finding some of the darnedest things on coins, because they think they've got nothing to lose. Then, after time, they find out. They lose their minds...
Seconded on hits in the area. Enlarged I also see three small pock marks below the date. The 4 took a hard hit at the top as I see a lump of pushed metal just below the hit. But keep on keepin' on!
