Belated response: that is a truly remarkable hobo cent. The artist must be quite a craftsman (or -woman). Amazing detail.

Ah, nice one. I have an Allectus with the galley reverse on my radar, but it might not happen. Tom Cederlind, huh? Speaking of watchlisted stuff that didn't quite happen, I had a lovely Roman Rebublican denarius watchlisted in his old VCoins store, but didn't move soon enough. Never got around to doing business with him, and now, alas I never will. RIP. I hear he was a fine numismatist.

My birthday is this week and Christmas is coming.
This would be a great present to receive, as a newish member on Coin Talk.

    Happy Holidays!

Neat. And Happy birthday. I'm a December baby myself.

Im a bit concerned by the small screwdriver in the CRH photo, though. What's that for?

Since you are giving the option of gifting the coins, I will go ahead and enter. Try my luck for the second month in a row. :)

LordM, I use the screwdriver to open the ends of coin rolls. Works great! No harm to coins.

Maybe not when you're the one wielding it! ;)

My luck, I'd put a big gouge on the endroll coin, and it would turn out to be a 1914-D or an SVDB.

(Well, I guess that would still be a lucky find, but heartbreaking. I've had a few cringeworthy tool accidents while recovering detector finds.)

Here. Let me sweeten up Prize #3 a little bit.

In addition to a few red BU USA Wheat cents, Prize #3 will also include this 1936-H British West Africa penny, from the short 326-day reign of Britain's King Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne so he could marry an American divorcee, which was rather scandalous at the time. I'm sure most of you know the story.

Anyway, coins with Edward VIII's portrait are rare (most on the market today are modern fantasies). However, coins with his name on them were issued in some of the British colonies, as is the case here, and those are readily obtainable.

In circulated grade like this, this is a cheap coin (I just plucked it from a bulk lot the other night), but it's decent-sized and the six-pointed star and center hole are cool, not to mention the whole Edward VIII historical tie-in.

The "H" (Heaton) mintmark on this coin is beneath the hole on the side opposite the star. It's not terribly visible in my blurry cellphone picture.
