clembo: I am not an expert on coins, although I played one (in my dreams) on TV. However, even a lowly idiot like my self would pass on this treasure.
Alright everybody, let's have the coin tell us if it's real or not. Heads it's fake, tails it's real. It honestly really doesn't surprise me that someone bought that for $30. Phoenix
It looks like the side with the lighter picture was the side that was lathed. The two headed/two tailed kennedy half dollars go for around $5 to $10 retail. I doubt two headed nickels are made very often (post mint). If the buyer was dead set on getting a two headed prewar nickel, then he got a good deal as it would cost much more to have a single one made up at a machine shop, but if the buyer just wanted a two headed coin, then they paid about $25 too much.
i have two that i have found while searching rolls glad to sell both for sixty dollars . fun to find good to drive a coin collector crazy looking for mint mark on early jefferisons. just kidding about saleing weeping for grand kids.
Please use ESTATE in a sentence. "Honey stop hitting me I was in E STATE of sheer stupidity when I bought it".
I think it is a nice collector piece. It's well made and looks real. I'd buy one for $5. Not $30. Bruce
what an idiot, i wonder if the dates are the same on both ends! i bet if you look at the edge, they are fused together.
Apparently they are both 1940. Also, not edge fused. It appears to have been carved out and inserted. Check the rim on the second side (the 1940 side-- just kidding).
