Going thru bag 1982-P's and noticed the date looked odd. I looked at it closer and it appears there are 2/3 8's and the 2 has doubling, but inside the top loop of the 8 I can see a 90 degree angle. Marks near vest too. Bottom pic enhanced. Thoughts?

Looks like strike doubling to me.

    It's all from mechanical/strike/ejection doubling.

Yup MD. Not that it matters here but is it a Type1 or Type2 cent?

I don't know the types you are referring to unless it refers to large or small date. This is a large date cent. I am always willing to learn something new.

You’d think that was an Indian Cent with all the arrows.

Sorry Copper or Zinc. Copper type 1. Zinc type 2.
Although if I was to speculate I’d say zinc.
Also I don’t think anyone’s said it, good eye. Worth 1 cent but priceless as far as experience and knowledge learned are concerned.

Is there anyway this could be a small date over large?

I am going to say again. Is there anyway this can be a small date over large? How about some feedback.

Looks like a worn die to me. Strike doubling would show on all of the numerals.

Small over large, not large over small!

The reason I ask is because they strike up differently. I feel that the groups consensus is correct.

@BadThad Excellent example, thanks for the nice image. I usually toss DDD coins in rolls and file them but damn you made that 92 look sexy. I might have to unroll and grope some DDD’s just for fun.

No chance of being a small over large date.
