I just found some statehood quarters that are platinum layered. What are these quarters and who produced them? I found a complete set on ebay for $75.00 which amounts to $1.50 apiece but can't find anything about them in the Red Book of United States Coins. Can anyone give me some info on these?

You paid way too much for them! Some of the TV coin hucksters came up with a way to sell their lower-grade clad SQ's at ridiculous prices by plating them in gold, platinum and silver. They're only worth face value now that they have been plated. FWIW, the amount of platinum used to plate these coins is worth so little that any attempt to recover the platinum would cost more than it did to coat each coin.

Plating them ruins the value and they are considered damaged.

From a numismatic standpoint, they are a deliberate deception on the part of unscrupulous businesses, attempting to add perceived value in the eyes of the uneducated which exceeds the actual value of the metal being added. And platinum can be plated very thinly....

Obviously, value is in the eyes of the beholder. You should already see that people who look at this from a numismatic standpoint - those who have replied in this thread - consider these practices with contempt.

The plating is extremely thin. There are only a few cents’ worth of platinum, if that. Avoid at all costs.

I like the looks of a gold plated state quarter set, but as stated above, they are considered damaged, and worth only face value, or maybe a bit more if in nice display. (preferably black)

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't buy the complete set I found on ebay. I had felt that somehow I had missed something and maybe add it to my quarters, but if it wasn't from the U.S. Mint then don't have any need for them. Thanks again
