I have not been getting notifications on this and just got caught up on reading. I will go $155 on the quarter.
Well it just so happens I just had @jtlee321 image a toned one. I bought this about 2 months ago, what did I pay?
PCGS Price Guide for an 1881-S Morgan Dollar is $785, and while this coin has very attractive pastel rainbow toning that envelops the entire obverse, it doesn't have the bold bag toning that will continue to drive multiples of price guide, even at the MS67 level. My guess is that you paid a cool $1,000 for this pretty Morgan.
I'll exclude myself from guessing as I know how much you had me insure it for on it's trip back to you. That gives me a bit of an unfair advantage.
BONUS POINT OPPORTUNITY: Guess what this alumni of the thread sells for on GC this Sunday. I'm weeding out a lot of Morgans and turning them into nicer type coins and this one, although pretty unique and awesome, didn't make the cut for me. https://www.greatcollections.com/Coin/524970/1887-Morgan-Silver-Dollar-NGC-MS-63-226-152-133-Toned
Will reveal the 81-S in a few hours if any last minute guesses. Can guess on the 87 EOR til sunday night.
$825 on the 81-S ...normal examples have been down lately (around $600)... the CAC likely helps bump up the premium.
