Well hot dang, that's a beauty! Strike: Central elements are crisp and sharp, although there is weakness on the stars. While I'm not intimately familiar with this series, this seems to be an above average strike from what I've seen. 65 Luster: The reverse especially appears to have exceptional luster. The obverse may be muted by toning, or it may just be the pictures, but luster still appears quite strong throughout. 64. Eye Appeal: That toning is gorgeous. While I'm often hesitant to praise blue copper coins (because of their association with various chemical treatments), this coin avoids all of the purplish hues that raise red flags. The spottiness of the obverse brings it down slightly, but the quality of the reverse is exceptional. 64+ Contact marks: There is one unfortunately distracting mark in the field in front of her eye, and quite a bit of chatter on her cheek. The reverse appears quite clean, but just a few marks here and there. 63/64 In total, I'm having a really hard time grading this gorgeous coin any less than 64BN. Very nice pickup.
Now what's a young boy like you doing with a pretty lady like that? Lol. She's gem for the money, easy.
That is a very pretty cent Not really familiar with the varieties of Matron Heads, but that seems to be a N-13? Many found in the Randall Hoard if I remember correctly. Grade: I don't know since the cents I collect do not often come in such lofty grades. However, my uneducated estimate is MS 64
@Pickin and Grinin was the closest. The holder made this coin affordable. Though I paid a premium over MS-62 price to get her. This coin came from Chris McCawley, who is one of the best dealers I have ever dealt with.
Why did it grade so low? Is there anything you see in hand that drives it down, that we might be missing in the pictures?
That is just bloody, blasted, lovely, and she deserves more accolades concerning the grade........the die cracks are uproariously lovely........ [piling it on too much?] Tough.
The only thing not evident is some light chatter in front of the neck. Otherwise the coin is as you see it in the pictures.
I figured the luster, strike and toning were all at a 64-65, what held me back were the heavy contact marks, these usually always keep a coin below 64. Perty Cent, I'd a bought it.
