352sdeer Collecting Lincoln cents for 50 years!

Awesome! to find that in the wild is an exceptional find indeed.
And the AM problem is just a weak striking which wheat pennies are famous for.
    Keep on looking!

I would love to, but I have no button to upload. Seems my registration email never arrived, so maybe I have a crippled account? Sent email to Peter, but no response yet.

Had an interesting chat with my 82 year old father a few days ago. In 1975, I was given a 20 gallon (big anyway) jug of pennies that one of his old buddies had been throwing pennies into for about 30 years up to then. He gave it to me and said, take whatever you like, and replace 1 for 1.
In 1986, I got out of the army, and on visiting my parents, looked for the collection I started from that. All I could find were the blue coin books I had filled up, I can't recall the spread on the years, but it was 3 of them, and they were full. Of course no special coins were in there, just pocket coins in various condition, most VG+.
Well, I put them back in the cigar box I had been storing them in, and back in where my mother had been storing that box. I kept thinking, I'm sure there were a lot more than that! In the skype call the other night, my father said that in cleaning the garage out to look for old stuff to get rid of, he found an old tin biscuit tin. In it were what turned out to be $72 in penny rolls.
He then put the tin in the back of his truck with the plan to turn it in to the bank for dollars! Fortunately he told me about it before going to the bank. The penny rolls are still safe and sound and it jogged my memory. Those are all weatbacks I kept out of that old whisky jug (or whatever it originally was).
While probably nothing of much value in those penny rolls, I look forward to opening them again 40 years later or so. There is definitely some early 1900's pennies in there. One day I will open those rolls for the first time since I packed them.

Send a message to GDJMSP. Thats Doug, he runs the forum, he should be able to get to the bottom of whatever the issue is.

Just got a 50-d wheatie in change from the snack bar here at work. It's the first wheatie I've gotten "naturally" (i.e., not through roll searching) in quite a while.

Hey everyone, my first first 4 boxes yielded be a few pieces of silver, 2 boxes were skunks, I did pull, 1-63-Bennie, 1-68, 1-69, also pulled 2-Clad Proofs, 1-82S, 1-85, and 1-01S. Not a great find, yet it will do. Hope you all have a great week and find lots of silver.

No time for boxes today. Son has the flu and all that goes with it. But A quick trip to the bank for normal banking business produced a 1968d jfk from the teller tray. Always nice

Just finished up another box of Loomis-rolled nickels a few moments ago. 16 keepers including two 1940's, a '41, two silver (44D and 45P), three more from the late 40's and another 8 from the 50's. One is a nice XF 59d. This brings my "keeper" rate to 1.27%. Surprisingly, the most common date found so far for pre-1960 Jeff's has been the 1940. I realize it had a fairly high mintage but I seem to find that particular date more often than any date from the 50's.
